Heh yes he is, yes he is. So many people love him as Bender from Futurama but if I ever see/meet him in person, I'm gonna say "HELL YEAH there's Dr. Drakken over there" :D.

That's the role I love him best in.

AerostarMonk 01-02-2008 12:55 PM

I'm of the opinion that DiMaggio's best role is Bender. Of course I'm not alone on that one. Who can't love that precocious little scamp?

I don't know... he made a strong impression with his performances as the Scotsman (Samurai Jack) and General Grievous (Clone Wars);)

Last show I watched happened to be the favorite of most of us here. Eppie was "Dinner is Swearved". Yeah, this is another episode you don't want to watch with me as I quote almost the whole thing. And I like to do it out loud. I'd become very annoying very fast. 8D

koosie 01-04-2008 03:12 PM

Last thing I watched was some documentary about some fraudster ventriloquist who is selling strips of land on the moon as he's 'claimed it'. Apparently there's no legal prohibition on him doing this, in which case I claim the rest of entire universe. Anyone want to buy a galaxy off me?

Actually the film was about people who'd bought some Moon at £20 an acre ( about $40) for which they recieved a certificate that looked, well...not very legal anyway. Some guy had 22 strips! At first there was the amusement factor that kept me watching but a kind of horror crept in that a good chunk of these buyers were single men with a few funny ideas in their heads who were filling their lives with distractions that further pushed them away from what's laughably considered mainstream. Um... it's hard to describe what I'm getting at but a shiver really went down my spine. Sometimes life is just unbearably sad.

More cheerily, one of the moon's new owners was a fellow from round my way (Denton)who has his own private space program called STARCHASER. I've actually seen his rocket and it's pretty impressive. Hmmm that sentence was ill-judged. Anyway he's cool, he regarded the whole Moon-for-sale thing as a big joke. It's a little bit offensive as well though, isn't it?

Haha, there was actually a boy in my English class back in secondary school who prided himself upon - apparently - having purchased a couple of acres on the moon. Got to say, I found the whole notion highly questionable at the time.

IMO, the only one who has any right to sell plots of land on the moon is Ratzilla. He was there first, after all.

How much had it cost him? However much it was, he could have spent it on sweets or comics here on Earth, shared them out and at least got some popularity and maybe a bit of kudos. Or maybe a tattoo on his forehead that said 'I AM GULLIBLE PLEASE EXPLOIT ME'

Hope no-one on this forum owns any of the moon or they might be a tad offended. Please don't! I'm just jealous, I don't even own any of the Earth.

Ok I'm ignorant (or old and forgetful). Explain Ratzilla. ???

Sadly, I can't remember what kind of price he'd attached to that claim. Oddly enough, he always struck me as being one of the shrewder members of my class back then. Maybe it was some kind of ruse on his part.

I could explain the glorious Ratzilla myself, but it would probably be a lot easier to let the film itself do the talking. Hope youtube don't yank this one too quickly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzbA6kqSceI

I only discovered this in March last year, when I'd rented a couple of Night Gallery DVDs. I'm pretty convinced that if you look back far enough, you can find my initial reaction in this very thread. Since then, I've decided that Ratzilla rules.

koosie 01-04-2008 04:08 PM

The last TV show I watched was that ^

Well I'm glad that's cleared up. Spooky how these old sci-fi things managed to get so close to the truth, I mean, these days everyone's well aware of the

enormous rodents that infest the moon
. No-one gives it a second thought.

It was hard to tell but was there a

big bit of cheese in that trap?

Cheers JJ. Woot!

Spoiler Below
I didn't notice one. But then again, the moon is made of green cheese. I wonder if that's what gave them the idea.

Unfortunately, "The Nature of the Enemy" seems to have been almost universally panned, which all seems a bit unfair to me. I think that too many people still want Night Gallery to have been Twilight Zone: the Sequel, one of the most common criticisms being that NG had a habit of sacrificing substance for shock value. Trouble is that the majority of those shocks weren't exactly what you'd call scary. If you can accept NG for what it was - that is, a series of intriguing tales, each with a mildly creepy, but mostly very laughable conclusion - then "Nature of the Enemy" fits in perfectly with the rest of its kind.

AerostarMonk 01-05-2008 12:44 PM

I love Night Gallery unconditionally. I used to watch it to death out west on the Chiller Network. It was just so much fun. Between that and both versions of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, it was impossible to get to sleep.

It was, wasn't it? I love how the transformers move and emote in their alternate modes. I'm also pleasantly surprised with Sari. She has to be the first human character that I'm actually finding myself looking forward to her showing up on screen.:D

Robot Chicken on DVD

I loved Aquaman trying to talk to his fish, then gets frustrated. 'Answer me, you little b****es!' 8D

Colbert Report. His first episode since the writers went on strike. I'm glad to see that his ten week absence hasn't affected his performance at all.8D

Yay, The Colbert Report is back! I've been missing Stephen Colbert for so long now; it's good to see he's in action again, and in top form too.

I've been watching a little of the Food Network show Good Eats. They're doing an episode about homemade bread. It looks facinating, but I've got other things to attend to, so I can't watch it all now.

Johnny Quest (1960s Series) - House of the Seven Gargoyles

God, I love the old Johnny Quest cartoons. They are hilarity at its rawest form.

Transformers Animated: Blast from the Past. As a huge G1 and dinobot fan, this episode had me on cloud-nine from start to finish. I was sporting the biggest stupid grin the whole time. Grimlock truly is king!8D

I watched all of the S3 bonus features of LOST today. It's too expensive to buy now so I just rented the last disk, they always couple the last disk of a set with the bonus disk ^^

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Not the first two movies, but then again few things are. This was quite a bit of fun on network television. Something that it sorely needs in these dire days. Anyone who has a problem with continuity has obviously never watched the movies which take just as little time to reconcile their own continuities.

So if you're a sci-fi/action fan craving something to kick you from the boredom that is the writers' strike blues, T:TSSC might be just the ticket.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
It's the only non- reality/cartoon prime-time show I watch.

Cassini90125 01-15-2008 06:22 AM

Star Trek, this morning on one of the local channels, which rarely happens anymore. "Friday's Child" wasn't the best episode they ever did, although the Cappellan's culture was interesting. Somewhat reminicient of that of the Mongols, I think. B- if I had to grade it.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
The Visitor

This series that had already genuinely gone where no other Star Trek series had gone before by the time this episode was made as the drama had been moved to a static location and the storyline didn't always have to start with finding something, then doing something about it. Although I'd guess a Next Generation Episode (perhaps The Inner Light)would represent the high-water mark of Trek, this is really something special and should be watched by those who think of the franchise as little more than Cowboys and Indians in space. I was so caught up in watching this episode for the first time in about 10 years, that it was only when my fellow watcher said " How did you get that reading, O'Brien?" that the spell was briefly broken and I realised you overlook all that nonsense and the fact they're all wearing pyjamas because the story development and acting is of such quality.

Cassini90125 01-15-2008 01:48 PM

I remember that episode. I've always thought of it as one of DS9's - indeed, one of Star Trek's - best. :)

Ccook50 01-15-2008 03:04 PM

M*A*S*H on Hallmark Channel. The episode where Hawkeye has nightmares.

screech got the ability to see the future. also midterms.

Lynnie 01-15-2008 05:49 PM

Heh, cool, everyone's watching "oldschool" stuff today. :bloosmirk:

As for me, I'm watching "The Little Mermaid", that aired on Disney Channel shortly after the movie made it big in the early '90s. The movie is much better, as the series was created primarily for pre-school girls, so it can be awful young and cheesy at times. Even if there weren't any plots though, I'd still like watching it. It's the animation I always liked best of the show, not necessarily the stories. And of course, I've always loved mermaids. :berry:

Cassini90125 01-15-2008 06:01 PM

Deep Space Nine. Inspired by Koosie's earlier post I dug up the old tape and watched "The Visitor" myself, and followed it with my personal favorite, "In The Pale Moonlight". DS9 is exceptional sci-fi, often underrated by many; in my opinion its best episodes rival the best of the original series and The Next Generation. :)

Mr. Marshmallow 01-15-2008 08:57 PM

Boston Legal

"Mad about you" is the episode title and it was the first new episode they have had in a while. Every time i watch the show I got more and more moved by the deeply amazing and brilliant dialog this show puts out. I love the cast and I love how this cast is written.

It always keeps me entertained, it feels smart and funny, and I have to give a show any credit for actually giving new life to William Shatner outside of Star Trek. That was something originally I didn't think could be done.

some guy you dont know 01-19-2008 03:54 PM

so zack has done something stupid which will probably cost him at the end of the episode. business battles too, which i kinda understand because im in personal finance class. :D

Oh I can agree with that statment, The Venture Bros occupies a spot on my top ten list of all time favorite North American based animated shows.

And what are the other nine shows you ask...I may have already said it before, but I'll just reinterate.

(In no particular order)
1. Futurama, 2. Foster's 3. The Simpsons, 4. Batman: The Animated Series,
5. Freakazoid! 6. South Park 7. The Tick 8. Animaniacs and lastly...
9. Invader Zim

Medikor 01-22-2008 09:54 AM

Robotech. I am so pleased that Space has started airing this 80's classic back-to-back every weekday at 5.00 PM. I always wanted to see it back in the day but never got the chance.
And it's such a joy to see some good ol, fashioned hand drawn animation. It just has this grittier, charming look to it that's lost on the super crisp and clean shows of today.

Nathander 01-25-2008 09:16 PM

Xavier: Renegade Angel

Fantastic show. I'm not exactly the most unbiased person to ask about it, since I was a big fan of the creators previous show (Wondershowzen), and I've loved their sense of humor for a long time. Fantastic show, if you're up for the surreal.
