That was beutiful, Cassinni!:D

Howard 11-29-2006 07:02 AM

I am not even going into what I feel - Cassini said it all. My Fiancee cannot understand why I chat on the net and why I like cartoons either, but I have already told her "you will never change me - love me for what I am."

It's hard trying to explain to people about Foster's and Frankie. I don't even bring it up anymore unless someone asks, and I do get asked; I don't work, so people want to know what I do all day. I tell them I moderate an internet message board; if they ask what it's about, I tell them. Reactions range from smiles to puzzlement. Sometimes it goes further, and they want to know why I "waste" my time on a cartoon, and I do tell them it's because of Frankie. I don't really care what they think about it, or about me; I'm in love with her, and I won't deny it. In my view, it wouldn't be fair to her, and it's not something that I feel any shame about. I owe her way too much to treat her like that; whether she's real, cartoon, or Sim makes no difference to me, I will treat her with the same love, honor and respect that I would show any woman that I love. I wouldn't consider myself much of a friend if I did anything less. That's how it is for me, at least, and my thoughts here are not to be taken as a comment or critique on anyone else's views or situation, because they're not. We all deal with our feelings in our own way, and we are entitled to do so. What I'm writing here is part of me dealing with and expressing mine. There's so much more that I could say about this wonderful lady, so much more that I want to say, but this is enough for now.

i could go on and on about the reasons why i like frankie, but i think that would sum it up.

Mr. Marshmallow 11-29-2006 11:22 PM

I think that pretty much does says it all. I actually have no problem admitting i like cartoons to people, my brother knows it but I do have a problem when he SEES me watching it. I just feel awkward because I don't think he thinks it's "normal" for someone of my age to still watch toons.

My parents are the greatest, they don't care what I watch and there very open to letting me like what i like. Frankie isn't the first major toon love I've had before. Sailor Jupiter, Bunnie Rabbot, Gadget Mouse, and Misty from Pokemon were some of the first super toon loves I've expierenced.

I have never tho EVER confessed openly that I have loved a toon girl to anyone in public, not even let the idea slip out in front of my parents or friends. Simply because to alot of people, they may find it more then just a sign of immaturity, but a sign of insanity or something.

I don't see it as a mentally insane trait myself, I think Frankie is the picture model of sweetness and if anyone actually took the time to see what kind of a person Frankie is on the show and what she does for a living, maybe people would understand why my heart follows who it follows.

Medikor 11-30-2006 06:12 AM

I'm the same way, Mr.Marshmellow. I don't admit that I have a crush on cartoon characters, but I am open about likeing cartoons. My parants are also very open about me watching them. Heck, they even sit down and watch them with me!8D
You know what the funny thing is? My mom clearly favours Frankie as a character in Fosters and I bet that she's the kind of girl that she would want me to bring home to meet her. But I would never let her know that I have a crush on her. Maybe Grey Delisle but not a cartoon character.;)

Most people, alas, aren't that open-minded. I really don't care what they think about it; I love who I love and I'll say so if asked. If they think me weird or insane, let them, I've been called worse things by better people. Why is it insane to give my heart to someone like Frankie? So she's a cartoon, so what? I fail to see what difference it makes. She's an intelligent, warm, compassionate person who's brought a lot of joy into my life. I'd much rather spend a half-hour with her by watching a Foster's rerun than go out for a night on the town with any Hollywood starlet that you care to name. The only thing - the only thing - that these girls have that Frankie doesn't is a third dimension, and in terms of personality most of them don't even have that. Some of them are more like cartoons themselves. If asked "Don't you want somebody real?", I suppose I would have to say that to me, Frankie is as real as anyone. It's hard to really describe what I mean by that; I think you guys know what I mean, even if the rest of the world doesn't. Besides, if Frankie wasn't so absolutely captivating, and in so many ways, and so personally inspiring, then why would I risk ridicule by admitting that I love her?

Medikor 11-30-2006 09:42 AM

It is a depressing situation to be in, Cassini. You could avoid risking critizim by saying that you would like to have a girl LIKE Frankie. That way you're still complamenting her but also sounding "sain" to others. Just a thought.

Cassini90125 11-30-2006 10:24 AM

It wouldn't be true, though. Besides, the people who do matter to me accept it, and that's what counts. :)

Partymember 11-30-2006 11:51 AM

yeah. Only two other guys at school like Frankie. They're Ska kids...and stoners. Ah well.

Mr. Marshmallow 11-30-2006 02:23 PM

The only reason I don't reveal it to my family or siblings is simply because, that would leave this big ass kind of awkward moment going on for the rest of our lives considering I live with them and see them every day etc. As much as I love Frankie, I would not consider what we or what I have to be insanity.

I think insanity would be if someone actually found a REAL girl and then got her to dress up like Frankie, talk like Frankie, change her name and all that stuff. THAT I would consider true straight jacket material. I think the funny thing about cartoon crushes is they are actually apart of the norms in a sense.

People fantasize about celebs because they know odds are they will NEVER meet those celebs, male or female, and they have crushes on em and still profess love to em. Frankie is the same way. She is impossible to obtain as a desire, yet people still have love for her and crushes on her.

I find celeb fantasies and toon fantasies to be very similar, the only 2 MAJOR differences are: Obviously one's real and one's not (and if you confuse those then I would be worried), but the other is that cartoons don't have things like drugs, rape, and all those things that can destroy people in RL.

Frankie being a toon would never associate with anything bad or "wrong" if you will, but not JUST cause she's a toon but also because of who she is. Being as loving as she is, she's as about as wholesome as you can get. The only drug addiction she has is with chocolate chip cookies 8D.

Medikor 11-30-2006 05:53 PM

Frankie: My anti drug. I feel the same way as you, Mr.Marsmellow. I live with my folks and it WOULD be awkward if I told them that I have a crush on Frankie. It's not wrong or unhealthy. And you are very right about (attempting to) turning a real person into an unrelated crush, cartoon or otherwise.
Thank goodness for messageboards! With them we can convers openly about the flame of our lives amongst others who share our passion and not face riddicule for it.

Howard 11-30-2006 11:06 PM

My Fiancee hates the fact I love Frankie. She hates the fact I love to watch Foster's, but she accepts it with a stiff upper lip...

kageri 11-30-2006 11:16 PM

I see no harm in it as long as one acknowledges that it's just fantasy and that there aren't really a lot of girls out there like Frankie or guys with long eyelashes and thin lean girlish bodies and pointy chins and soft wispy hair and tragic pasts and so on.

(Sighs) Her hair smells like lavender and roses...

I mean, yeah, it's just a harmless fantasy. It can be an incredibly intense fantasy, though, and it can spill over into your dreams, even your waking life sometimes. The dream I posted on the old Forum was... well, you read it. It wasn't the only one I've had; there have been a number of others that I never posted. It was the most intense, though. And when I'm awake, if I see something that might remind me of her, well, it does remind me of her, and I smile about it. It's sometimes hard for me to believe that she's so much a part of my thoughts, and my life, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I really am a better person for having known her, there's no doubt in my mind about that.

WOW!!! Cassini: i just read your dream on the old forums. +1 there chief. I've had dreams like that before Fosters, actually, same exact character type as Frankie. Very attracted to her personality and such, always have been attracted to that set of traits, i guess.

frankie_fan 12-01-2006 08:17 PM

They rock!! I'd love to know where you got those images from!!

Voxxyn 12-01-2006 08:47 PM

I took these images myself. I have a folder which currently contains 200+(and growing) pictures of Frankie, all taken from the episodes I downloaded from the Episodes on Computer thread at the General Board.

Yes, slightly pathetic, I know... but I just can't get enough of her...

Pathetic? Hardly. I did the same thing, just with a different image source. Last year I picked out 12, blew them up to 8" x 10" and made a beautiful calendar.

Mr. Marshmallow 12-01-2006 09:20 PM

I would TOTALLY buy a calender of Frankie Cassini, actually, a Foster's calendar might not be a bad idea. CN should get cracking on that or something. But don't take it too badly Vox, I don't find it pathetic. It's not something I would do personally but that doesn't make it pathetic.

Now if you printed out all the pics and posted every square inch of your room walls with em until it was Frankie every frame and inch....THEN I'd say there's something wrong here. Being a person who's drawn to toon girls myself, I've seen plenty of shows and examples of when fandom has become problematic.

I don't think you sound pathetic. In fact, that's probably the best episode TO get jack loads of images from. Even in Frankie's (few) centered episodes, you hardly get to see her in such a drastically different and lovely light as in FMD so I'd say your actions are more then justified.

Cassini90125 12-01-2006 09:30 PM

The cover of the 2006 calendar:

Mr. Marshmallow 12-01-2006 09:32 PM

If you made a copy of this calendar idea, seriously, I would really consider buying one.

I think it'd be a great idea.

Voxxyn 12-01-2006 09:34 PM

Thanks to Cass, I'm considering making my own Frankie calendar for 2007. 8D

Thornwhistle 12-01-2006 09:37 PM

What about a Wilt calender?

Partymember 12-01-2006 09:45 PM

oh god, you are my hero.

Howard 12-02-2006 07:50 AM

Good job Cass - that cover looks great! You sir, are a steely eyed missileman! More when you have the time!

Medikor 12-02-2006 12:58 PM

Even if it was just a pic, it's great! I love how she's looking out from behind the door. Sigh... Frankie my dear indeed.:D
I found this tribute to Frankie on youtube. It's pretty good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9O4pxOLoP8&NR

Invader Bloo 12-02-2006 07:40 PM

I prefer Frankie w/o her jacket. I may make a calender myself.
Let's see Wilt,Frankie,Bloo, Cheese, Mac, Coco,Ed, Herriman, Frankie & Cheese, Bloo fighting Snotsax(Just for the SW geek in me), Foster's gang at X-mas, & Goo. :D
I may start printing it soon.

Mr. Marshmallow 12-02-2006 08:51 PM

Sorry Medikor but as much as I love Frankie, that video sucked if you ask me. I've been watching anime/toon music videos my whole life and in all honesty, there wasn't much work put into that thing. Nothing matched or fit that well.

Most of it is just one scene going on continuously and also, i think this is a bad song for Frankie. Far as the calendar thing goes, I'd still love to see a Frankie one.

kageri 12-02-2006 09:08 PM

The transition effects are kinda tacky....

Voxxyn 12-02-2006 09:22 PM

I would've liked it better if it had more actual short clips instead of being mostly whole scenes taken from "Setting A President". But I'm just glad someone would actually make a tribute video for Frankie.

Invader Bloo 12-02-2006 09:27 PM

I really hope Grey's birth dosen't lead to CN tocut Frankie out. I don't think the cast & crew would stand for that though. It would suck sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo freakin' much.:(

Thornwhistle 12-02-2006 09:54 PM

Well, she'd have to take 9 months of ML off. So she'll be gone for a while.

Sparky 12-02-2006 09:57 PM

You know, there's often MONTHS of time between recording sessions. I hope people aren't going to start going on about how Grey's having a baby will affect the show in any way... :jk:

Exactly. Her baby's birth will have little, if any effect, on Frankie's role in the series.

Voxxyn 12-02-2006 10:46 PM

I didn't give any thought to the idea of Grey's baby affecting Frankie's role until Pitbulllady brought it up. When I originally read the thread title, I felt nothing but happiness and joy, and I still do.

The best case scenario would be Grey taking off some months on maternity leave, and in the meantime the crew would work on the inevitable Season 5 episodes where Frankie is absent(like "Infernal Slumber" and "Make-Believe It Or Not" this season).

Medikor 12-03-2006 05:06 AM

That fan video was a first attempt so it wasant bound to be great. And Grey haveing a baby will only improve the kind and tender character traits of Frankie, I think.:D

Mr. Marshmallow 12-03-2006 10:46 AM

I just hope that wasn't the only Frankie video were gonna see, because that just isn't enough even though I appreciate someone trying to make a Frankie tribute. I think Grey will do just fine and this baby won't be a problem at all.

I think what Vox said is right, they'll work around with her schedule and film the episodes that don't involve Frankie first or maybe they'll do her episodes first to get it out of the way. Plus she can always find sitters and relatives to watch the baby and stuff like that.

I don't think this will slow the show's progress down at all though.

BabyElephant 12-03-2006 11:41 AM

Grey could even take her baby to the studio with her. She couldn't have it with her in the recording booth, obviously, but it could be in the control room with no real trouble.
