As Homer Simpson would probably say:
"Mmmmmmm Frankie" Honestly, those pics are MEGA gaa gaa drooling stuff. It's no wonder Frankie's got such a geekish following both on the boards AND in "Good Wilt Hunting". (Btw, don't take the use of the term geek as an insult, I myself am a Frankie geek and dam proud of it). But back to Frankie, I just got finished watching Foster's movie and I was SO SO SOOOOO happy to see Frankie getting a pretty decent sized role. Even though she was flustered left and right with everyone's singing (that was just cute, you gotta admit it ). And she got tickets left and right, I loved Frankie in here and I think the nerds obsessing over her was a delightful surprise. I'd like to think that's a comical nudge to us drooling over the lovely Miss Foster 24/7 on these threads, and if so, THANK YOU very much Craig! I loved every minute of it. |
I'll be honest, the nerd characters provoked some mixed reactions from me. I freaking HATED them when I first saw GWH. They do become more tolerable on repeat viewings, and have some funny moments.
I don't want to sound like an ungrateful blowhard who takes offense to the show winking at it's fans, but if they were meant as a parody of us Frankie fans... then that's not something that would make me happy. I'm in love with Frankie, and could easily be considered a geek and/or nerd. But my personality is VERY DIFFERENT from that of Douglas and Adam. Like I've said before, I'm shy and introverted. These guys were very bold and "forward", and openly trying to woo Frankie, which I'd be too scared to do. And their infatuation with Frankie didn't seem to be sincere at all; as if they were only interested in her, uh, "surface" traits. Anyone who's read my posts on this thread clearly knows that I think there's far more to Frankie than just her looks. That said, Frankie's face at the very end of GWH when she "pets" and then shoves the nerds off-screen was just awesome. She has some of the best facial expressions ever. And on a different GWH note, I still think Frankie comforting and boosting up Foul Larry's broken spirit at the end(right before the final scene with the nerds) was nothing short of sweet and adorable. |
Well being someone who's a fan of many shows and movies that are continuously parodied through out the universe (such as Pokemon, Godzilla and Teen Titans), as they say during those comedy roasts "we only roast the ones we love". Or in this case, it's a tribute none the less.
It may be protrayed in a possible negative way, the fact is it's still a reference to the fact that people see Frankie for the sweetie and heart warming guy charmer that she is. The fact that Mac (who Bloo rudefully classified a nerd anyway) and the pizza geek from "Frankie my dear" also kinda ties into this. The fact is, you don't have to like how the geeks acted nor take it as a jab as in how us Frankie fans actually are. But merely embrace the fact that something we started or gotten into has become something millions of people can now see. I'm happy knowing Foster's world is still paying attention to Frankie. While that attention but be unwanted by Frankie or just unwanted from whose giving that attention doesn't change the fact her star is shining a bit brighter then usual. I always laugh at any parody or little jab at something I like or I know of, simply because I know deep down, it's all in good fun. So while we may find Adam (and I forget the other geek's name) behavior distasteful, it shows they have good taste at least ;). Frankie's reaction to them was great, reminded me of how Mas and Menos from Teen Titans reacted to Starfire. Their reactions as well as Starfire's was very similar. Also as far as being "shy" vs. "forward". Take this as a pleasant wink to us instead of a negative one, it shows Frankie obviously isn't into the forward geeks or anyone forward for that matter. It shows she's not a glory hog and definitely leaves her heart door open wide for us . Heh. |
*raises hand*
i think she works way to hard around the house and should get way more breaks |

As for being a Frankie "geek," let me rephrase: I am a "recovering geek." I used to be like that, but combat changes your perception of the world. You learn not take guff from anyone, but you are more open minded about things. I think Frankie would hug a vet. |

I'm guessing that those two nerds (I'm not useing "nerds" in a hateful way) must go to Fosters on most of those reunions so they can study Coco. So I wouldant be surprised if they knew Frankie on a first name basis, as we seen in GWH. Those two certainly were forward with flirting with Frankie. If it were me I would try and be sudtle. But with my luck I would end up with Frankie seeing me as a friend and nothing more.8D |
I see no pain of Douglas & Adam. It wasn't hurtful or anything. (*cough*TETSNBN,WTAWTAW,EKIB*cough*)
I felt bad for Frankie getting all those tickets. :( |
The tickets thing was merely a joke, and like I stated earlier, I didn't find it a form of "suffering" for Frankie simply because we all know how fickle the use of the police and law enforcement has become in this show. So I doubt were gonna see Frankie going to jail over anything like that.
On a side note, I'd like to state that this is my 500TH POST! And I couldn't think of a better place to put it then in my beloved favorite fictional female's thread: Frankie Foster :D. I also think the terms geek and nerd have been pretty much null and void since the 2000s have rolled around. I proudly admit I am a geek and after expierencing college life, it's safe to say no one really associates nerd or geek with anything negative at all. The fact geeks went drooly over Frankie was a wonderful joy to see and like I said Vox, don't take it as a back handed reference. Think of it this way. Just because those geeks acted in a pushy and obsessively forward manner to Frankie, doesn't necessarily mean this is Craig's way of telling us that we act the same way. This is how THOSE two particular geeks acted. Like you said, you'd act more curteous (as would I) towards Frankie's feelings. It actually shows the difference between an obsession and for lack of a better term, love, for a character. Sure they may have bugged Frankie, but at least we know we've had the decency to treat her with the respect and appreciation she deserves. |

and i am sure that all the people there would be in an all out war with each other, and not at all be caring if they hurt each other, as long as they made frankie happy. and i just realized i wasted 2 paragraphs worth of bandwith to talk about people fighting for frankies love |
I am sorry, but I hate the whole concept of "fighting for Frankie's heart". I hate it. I like to think that Frankie deserves better than being reduced to a material prize in some "battle royale" that would inevitably end up bringing out the WORST qualities from everybody involved, and thus basically scare her away.
I can accept it with Mac, Bloo, the pizza boy and Prince Charming because of the circumstances. One is an eight-year-old boy, another is a hopelessly self-centered blob, another is a slightly crazy teenager, and another is a certifiably insane imaginary prince who dresses in drag. On the other hand, the people on this forum are supposed to be at least 13 years old and have some grasp of sanity and reason. Mac, Bloo, the pizza boy and Prince learned to share Frankie's love and affection at the end. We should do the same. (And BTW, I think the "not a man" gag was just them playfully teasing Frankie instead of anything serious) |
Quote:
so i still realize i have no sanity when it comes to tv, but anyways, back on subject. i think frankie is probably the best human character because of the fact that she is still (or attempts to be) nice to everyone around her even after the million and three jobs herriman has assigned her, plus she does a good job at the same time. and its good to see that they are nice to her in return. |
It's okay Vox, relax for a bit. I think some guy's point is that yes, the truth of the point is it's wrong to "fight for Frankie". That she is the only one who rightfully chooses who loves her and all that jazz. But just like in "There's something about Mary", the idea of everyone "fighting for her" is hard to ignore.
Because so many people have confessed such strong feelings for her, the idea of people fighting for her affection is not too surprising. Outside of species and mentality wise, we aren't too different from Mac, Bloo, pizza guy, and Prince Charming. Except were not that stupid or drastic to go to their lengths :P. The battle royale thing doesn't necessary translate Frankie into some lifeless prize to be won. The fact of the matter is, it's actually an honor to realize so many people are behind her and willing to do things for her. Because she is WORTH it, even if there was a fight and she didn't pick the "winner" per say. The point is it's a sign of people's devoted affection for her, be it misguided or misunderstood, the message is still love even though it's buried down deep in the occasional rumble or so. Frankie's also seen alot weirder crap in Foster's then to be scared off by a bunch of lover boys quarreling over her. This is why I proposed that fan boy lover idea for a fan fic with Frankie, I think it's an interesting look into how powerful one person can affect us. The thing with the battle royale tho Vox is that this all in "good fun". Just like Jim Spader and William Shatner body wrestling over Shirely in "Boston Legal". Fighting may seem crude and a demeaning way to someone, but love takes many forms and no matter what the method or the result, the message is still clear: we love Frankie Foster. |

I think that the "fighting for Frankie's heart" thing is funny.
Partially because it is cliche and partially because it bucks the cliche. Those fighting over Frankie really are fighting over nothing, since she isn't interested and often unaware of their affections. That has made for some pretty funny reactions from Frankie. Stuff like "uuuuuuuuuuuh-ok" and the like. Glad to see so much of her in Good Wilt Hunting. |
I think it mostly has to do with the fact the guys are pushing themselves too heavily on Frankie that bothers her, rather then them fighting over her. If they treated her less stalker like, she might even find the fighting thing cute.
And while it may be cliche, it's apart of our culture and I've seen this same thing in other shows as well. Like Teen Titans as I said before, as well as There's something about Mary, Cat Girl Nuku Nuku, and even in Sailor Moon. I find it amusing and a form of flattery. |
I would just sum up Mac, Bloo, Pizza-guy and Charmings "fight" over Frankie as inexperiance or puppylove. And by all we know, Charming is younger then Mac.8D

Frankie is beautiful, yes, but there's another reason that Douglas and Adam were attracted to her: Because she's nice. Frankie excludes no one. She was a little weirded out by them (and got quite tired of them at the end, but she could have slugged each of them in the face), sure, but they're supposed to be the stereotypical "socially inept" nerds, and didn't notice. They're the "nerds" and she's the figurative "pretty girl in the gaming store" that probably treats them much better than another attractive female would. That's all it was. It wasn't a meanspirited anything to anyone. If anything it's merely another nod towards Douglas Adams. Rest in peace. And if it is a tongue-in-cheek reference to her fanbase, they should do squealing Wilt fangirls next time. *shot* |
I honeslty didn't take it that way simply because that would more or less mean that there is a deeper explanation into Douglas and Adam's characters about their luck with girls, and status as geeks, when the movie clearly wasn't going to go in that direction. That stuff seems more like speculation.
I don't know, maybe me being one of the big Frankie fans on this board, felt it kinda was a nodd to us simply due to the fact of Frankie's success on an internet board and she was being hounded by (surprise) internet geeks. That's just how I saw it anyway. I think it's more then just Frankie being nice because regardless if it was puppy love, Mac and Bloo and the other guys obsessed over her as well. And even though he ended up being a jack ass, Dylan still had a thing for Frankie as well. There's something more to Frankie's draw then her nice demeanor. To have 7 admirers over one girl, there's definitely something about Frankie. |
Quote:
It's definitely more than her being nice, as we saw from their Jessica Rabbit-esque vision of her, but from what I've seen in similar situations in cartoons the "nerds" tend to latch onto the one girl who will give them the time of day. Like I said, if it was a nod towards Frankie's fanbase they should do Wilt next, because that would be hilarious -- but I don't think it was because they probably wouldn't have kept them as prominent characters throughout the whole movie. I was pretty surprised that they did, really. I thought those few minutes would be all we'd see of them. |
I like what Mac said: "Frankie likes us, because she is cool." To me, that sums up everything! Word to the wise: do not get on Frankie's bad side!
|
I enjoyed them regardless of their purpose or supposed fan based origins. I honestly think though that if they were not, the creators of the show should take into consideration some of the things that go on this board. Or at least, have some general idea of feedback on how fans feel about characters.
We already know they are aware that fans loved Goo and Cheese, and they responded by giving them more episodes. My hopes rather they be in vain or not is that they get the hint on Frankie and give her some more credit, if not more air time. They barely even air her own freaking episodes for crying out loud. I think they should know, letters, e-mails, or whatever that Frankie means as much to us as she does to everyone at Foster's. Even if CN doesn't do anything or responds to our comments (which I know they won't), it'd be nice knowing they are aware of our feelings for Frankie and her ever growing fan base here. |

I don't disagree that Frankie's kind heart IS the heart of why she's so amazing. I just meant for the sake of the obsessive fan boys in the movie. |
Quote:
Frankie's sweetness is definitely one of the best parts about her, but I love her temper, too. She's not perfect, and that's why she's so great. |
Her niceness greatly enhances both her physical beauty AND the less-pleasant side of her personality. She's hopelessly likeable even when she's at her most angry and furious.
|
I actually didn't like that split second wonky version of Frankie that the geeks saw like moments before she walked up. I just didn't dig that image of Frankie. I think one thing they should do more often is play with that cutesy kiddie voice she tosses around occasionally.
I thought it was just so....loveable when she made that "I been a bad little girl" voice to Herriman in "Dinner is Swerved" and how she said she was sowwy in "Trouble with scribbles". I just found that stuff to be cute. The fact she is so nice is kind of a funny foil to her temper tantrums now that I think about it. |

yeah. i'm pretty shy around girls, too. Frankie would probably see me as a friend. :'(
|
I'd rather have Frankie as a genuine friend, instead of crudely trying to "woo" her only to cause her to hate me.
Like I said, though, I don't believe that "love is a battlefield" or anything like that, so feel free to ignore me. That's just how I honestly feel. |

I definitely would have Frankie as a good friend. Of course my wife-to-be ain't gonna like it!
