Heroes - the first two episodes (rented the first disk)

Zeitgheist 09-06-2007 12:52 AM

Started watching Heroes a few days ago :P On episode 16 or something now

Medikor 09-06-2007 09:08 AM

"Greatest Ever Weapons" on Discovery. This show really annoys me because they seem to pick most of their contestants on popularity and not how they impacted the world or completely turned tables in war. I mean, the boomerang? Give me a break!
And of course the katana, the most overrated sword in history, was the representative of the sword in general. The European longsword was far more versatile and effective given what it was up against. (plate mail)

i would vote the Cossack's saber (I forget the name for it right now) as the best, most versatile bladed weapon ever. Short, fat, and sharp

Ghost Hunters on SciFi

A lot of people seem to be surprised to find out that I have an interest in the paranormal and cryptozoology. Probably because I'm such a "girly girl", and Christian to boot. And to top it off, I never liked horror flicks. But put me in front of the TV when a show about "real" ghosts is on, or Bigfoot, lake monsters, Chupacabra or others and I'm suddenly hypnotized. I just love it. :slybendy:

Do I believe? Hmmm, ask me again in an hour. 8D

Who Wants to Be a Superhero? Season 2. I am so dissapointed about the outcome. I turned it off when he said the name.

It's the exact same thing with, Lynnie. :D
I'm not big on scary shows but I'm always waiting for the next documentary on those things.

Kim Possible: Graduation

Put it bluntly: Kick freaking flying ass finale Kim Possible!!!

Meerkat Manor:Series 3

I have to admit that I had my doubts as to whether this could sustain another season. As endearing as those protagonists may be, there?s probably only so much to be covered in the range of typical meerkat behaviour, and as much as I enjoyed Series 2 I also found it to be ever-so-slightly repetitive. The first new episodes, however, have been very engaging, and if the rumours I?ve been hearing are true, then we should be in for a pretty interesting (not to mention heartstring-pulling) season ahead.

It was on TV today. I've always liked that episode. :)

-Just watching Humberto, Uodates, same as ususal.

More Meerkat Manor - "The Death of Romance"

Well, there's an episode that certainly lived up to its title. I really need to stop getting so attached to these little meerkats (easier said than done). It'll spare me a lot of grief when bad things inevitably happen. :'(

Freakazoid - ALL episodes

I have a cold so I had nothing to do... so with a high fever I sat down and watched both seasons of this crazy wonderful and random cartoon. I can tell you this, I had the craziest dreams afterwards XD

Nothing helps fight a cold better than a blanket, pillow, warm drink, and a dvd of your favorite show! :D

Doctor Who-Blink

Anyone not paying attention to this fantastic show is really missing out. This is hands down one of the best revivals ever, and also one of the best series on television, science fiction or otherwise.

The best part is, even with it's serial nature you can jump in at anytime. So I urge you to either tune in to tonight's replay, or first play depending on time zone, or watch next week's ep on Sci-Fi Channel. They're also playing Series 2, the previous season, on BBC America Saturdays at 8. So give it a watch. You won't be disappointed.

2007 Emmy Awards. Had to stop watching when The Office didn't win! :(

Most Haunted

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. I can't help it. I love everything in the paranormal world :P And Yvette is funny, seeing her cry and scream everytime someone touches her. I'm not sure how credible the show is, but it's a fun pastime in between UFO documentaries XD

AerostarMonk 09-17-2007 08:00 PM

The Wonder Pets

Due to the malfunction remote control this was the only thing I could watch this morning. I saw it and, tsk tsk tsk tsk. YIKES!

Mr. Marshmallow 09-17-2007 08:23 PM

Darkwing Duck

"Darkly Dawns the duck"

The very first episode of Darkwing. I bought the VHS tape of it through Amazon.com. I found out the DVD set of Darkwing edited out a number of scenes from the first 2 episodes and this really bugged the crap out of me. So I bought the tape to see what was edited out and it was totally worth it.

I still say this is one of the greatest cartoon shows ever created.

I'm with you there, Mr.M! Darkwing was, and still is, one of my all time favorite shows. I have such fond memories of watching it with my dad who also loved the show.
I just watched some "My Life as a Teenage Robot" a bit ago. I like this show, it's witty, smart, funny and well written and acted. It's a real shame that the show didn't become the hit that it really deserves to be.

LOL, that sounds exactly like American Idol, a screaming waste of airtime if ever there was one. :P

Mr. Marshmallow 09-24-2007 07:11 PM

Heroes: "Four Months later"

Journeyman: "Premiere"

Finally! New fall shows and more importantly, NEW HEROES! Heroes threw a lot of interesting material on the table, although I felt this episode kind of lacked the "tension" and seat gripping suspense the later episodes had.

This was an all right season premiere, but I know much bigger things are coming and I can't wait for next week. Journeyman was pretty good. I think the actors kinda suck and they talk too softly to understand half the time but I think it's got potential.

I'll be looking forward to the other new shows that caught my interest:

Bionic Woman, Reaper, Life, Moonlight.

As well as new episodes of my favorites:

Boston Legal, My name is Earl, The Office, Smallville.

That's exactly how I feel about Australian Idol! Man, I hate that show! :frankiemad:

Meerkat Manor - "The Graduate"

Another incredibly sad episode which has left me feeling terribly down. :( Good grief, this particular season, which is almost at a close on our shores, has been the bleakest by far. It makes me appreciate just how relatively tranquil and carnage-free those Whiskers had it back in the early days.

Once this is over I'm not watching anything but cartoons and comedies for a month.

Mr. Marshmallow 09-26-2007 01:56 PM

Darkwing Duck: Time and Punishment

Quite possibly one of the greatest episodes they ever created. Darkwing is changed into Darkwarrior Duck and man is he BAD ASS! This episode really shows just how important Gosalyn is to DW's life and how badly he needs her with him.

Anyone who's familiar with Sin City creator Frank Miller's work will recognize HUGE references to his famous Batman novel "The Dark Knight Returns". Excellent episodes for one of the greatest cartoons I have ever witnessed.

Medikor 09-27-2007 07:36 AM

I remember that episode! I really need to pick up the DVD's someday. I heard that they suffer from editing but beggars can't be choosers, right?

Only two episodes have suffered that flaw (which i was supremely pissed to find out) it was parts 1 and 2 of "Darkly Dawns the duck". There were a number of scenes deleted, including the kick ass capture sequence of DW knocking some bad guys out of a truck and into a trash can etc.

I don't know why it was edited out when they left out much more serious episodes like "Time and Punishment" and "Dead Duck" (where Darkwing actually DIES and goes to both Heaven and Hell, and is chased by the Grim Reaper) were left in totally unchanged. Disney really made some crappy decisions on these DVD sets.

Including Rescue Rangers but regardless, it's worth facing a few botched editing mistakes to get a series as wonderful as Darkwing Duck apart of your collection. At least I think so ;).

Medikor 09-27-2007 02:30 PM

I can't see anything being edited out for content. Maybe the cuts were ones made for syndication. The Simpsons will cut some stuff out just to shave off a few seconds so maybe Disney did the same thing?

Mr. Marshmallow 09-27-2007 02:51 PM

Not sure, there were quite a few scenes removed and I remember them all on TV. I bought a VHS tape of those first 2 episodes off Amazon last week and got to see all of what was removed, which included:

-The bike chase sequence in the beginning
-Some bad guys twirling guns
-A bad guy screaming "were all gonna die"
-Extended scenes with Bulba in jail
-Extended jail scene with Darkwing and a prisoner
-Bulba making a crack how ugly the Thunderquack looked
-Bulba making a crack at Darkwing's ego

That's the jist of what was censored, it's annoying as hell the fact they blocked some of this stuff out. Some I could see but the intro. sequence with the motorcycles and stolen cars was amazing and it SUCKS big time they cut it.

montitech 09-28-2007 10:54 AM

It is not just TV to DVD that gets cut,

When I saw SpaceBalls (Mell Brooks) in the theater, there was a good 5 min scene that was cut out of the film, (maybe it was a Utah version?)

Monty :-/

Smallville: Bizarro

I taped it from yesterday. I got to say I had all hope lost for this show after some pretty confusingly stupid plot points, and butt backwards weird episodes but this picked me up. Both Bizarro and Supergirl have been introduced now.

Despite obvious physical differences, I rather liked this portrayal of Bizarro, and Supergirl's actress isn't bad looking for a nobody. I'm getting sick of all these twists and turns with Lana but for the moment, this series has my hopes up again. I just hope they don't drop em again.

GrimTheLost 09-29-2007 03:39 AM

The last episode of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. It kinda made me sad to see it end. I mean I knew it ended, but seeing it do so was sad. I will always remember the times we shared.

Spin City - Goodbye (Part 1)

Part 2 is on later today! I remember when it first aired.

Medikor 10-01-2007 11:55 AM

Spin City lost all appeal for me when Fox left. It just felt like a different show...:(
