Lol, that was fun. And random. 8D It's cool that we could hear their voices. Do you sound anything like that IL? :D

Imaginary Light 02-27-2008 07:54 PM

That was...interesting 8D I had a good laugh.

And to answer your question, Lynnie: I sound nothing like that :P

jekylljuice 02-28-2008 12:16 AM

Cool, I never considered the possibility of the Sims having voices. Does this mean that my Sim has a British accent, then?

Just got another one of these. Considering I stood them up last time I'm kinda surprised. 8D This one's on March 10th and 11th (a Monday and Tuesday). But it's too much of a pain to go seeing as it's 2 hours away, so I'm not going to respond. Oh well.

The next product scheduled for release is titled Kitchen & Bathroom Stuff. After that there's nothing until 2009, which is when The Sims 3 is due. I haven't decided yet whether or not to buy it.

Cassini90125 03-09-2008 10:30 AM

Three quick pics from the house of Goo

Yeesh, that sounds awful. 8D

On any given day, when a Sim returns home from work or school there a chance that he or she will bring along a guest. Unfortunately they don't always use the best judgement in such matters, which explains why Goo brought this little terror home with her:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...i90125/GB1.jpg

Looks harmless enough, just a hyperactive girl chatting amiably in the kitchen with a slightly malevolent Imaginary Friend. Bendy wasn't the only resident from Foster's at Goo's place that day; Madame Foster was there as well:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...i90125/GB2.jpg

Unlike Bendy, no one invited her over. She just showed up on the lot unannounced, used the bathroom, and headed straight for the bubble blower, where she sat and blew bubbles for nearly six hours. I don't understand the fascination Sims have for this thing but eh, let 'em have their fun. Bendy passed by her shortly after I took this picture and exited the lot, at which time I went to check on Goo, and this is what I saw:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...i90125/GB3.jpg

I... I have no idea what he did to her. :o :wiltshock:

Coming up next: the residents of the Never Forgotten house cut class and skip work to go have fun in the park. Stay tuned. :D

antgirl1 03-09-2008 11:14 AM

Skipping Class? I'm in! :D

Nyo 03-09-2008 01:43 PM

Lmao at Goo's head. Creepy but hilarious.

xxxClaire 03-10-2008 09:07 AM

I guess Bendy got tired of her endless chatting. :o 8D

Woot! Skipping class is fun!

Cassini90125 03-11-2008 01:42 PM

The game has been temporarily suspended due to the deletion of one of my Sims and the resulting formation of a memory hole. I have no explanation for how or why this happened or how long ago it happened. However, since I had enough sense to back-up the entire neighborhood there is effectively no loss, and in my mind whatever consciousness the erased Sim had has simply moved to another, identical body, losing nothing but two days worth of memories. Of course, that means everybody loses two days worth of memories when I activate the back-up files and delete the old ones, and everyone gets the joy of seeing the Welcome Wagon again, but it will have no effect whatsoever on the storyline. Guess we'll just have to wait a little longer to learn about the mysteries of the Piano. ;)

By the stars I hate this. :(

Lynnie 03-11-2008 08:21 PM

It appears some fairies have been very busy so far this week. Causing mischief wherever they go, breaking things, causing stress, making us spend more time and money than we'd prefer. Mischievous little buggers! Yes, we can blame it on the fairies. :P 8D

Hope things are up and running again for you soon, Cass.

Cassini90125 03-11-2008 08:51 PM

It won't take long. I swear though, it's so incredibly frustrating sometimes; things like this never happen in my other neighborhoods. It's like Reality itself is deliberately trying to shut the Valley down, and I can guess why, too. Let it try; I will never stop, never quit, never give up until I've accomplished everything that I've set out to do. The story doesn't end until I say it ends.

Fomalhaut 03-12-2008 01:44 AM

I'm glad you feel the same way I do when my game crashes/I forget to save/other nasty stuff occurs. :) Btw, are you sure about The Sims 3? I mean, you've spent ages getting the Valley work, are you gonna restart?

Cassini90125 03-12-2008 06:47 AM

The official Sims 3 site noted in my sig opens for business on the 19th; however, the game itself won't be released for another year or so. After I get my copy, I have absolutely no intention of installing and using it until a patch is released, because EA Games is incapable of creating a game without bugs, and I'll be needing a patch-compatible, SecuROM-free pirated exe file to run the game safely. I would also like an S3 version of the InSIMenator. After all that, I will still wait and see what other players are experiencing before I do anything with the game. I'd love to install it and see what it can do on the first day but the simple fact is that I do not trust EA Games, not after the whole SecuROM fiasco. I won't use play any games made by them until they're proven to be safe and reliable.

As for Foster's Valley, I'll have that running again this afternoon. Back-up files are a Simmer's best friend.

By the way, if anyone wants any changes to their Sims (clothing, hair, make-up, whatever), now would be an excellent time to ask. Now, somebody please comment so I don't have to post back-to-back. :)

Everyday clothes for female teen Sims, from the creative geniuses at TSR. Over 8600 outfits to choose from! TSR... where the discriminating Sim downloads her dress.

I should work on Madison Avenue.

Given that I really, really don't want to play through 27 Welcome Wagon scenarios again, I'm going to take a shot at removing the memory hole. Might work, might make things worse, might do nothing. No way to know until I try. Worst that can happen is I run the back-up files and endure the dang Welcome Wagon again, which was what I was going to do to begin with. In the meantime...

Ten random pictures from around the Valley... and beyond...

Severus Snape came home from a long day at the lab and wondered to himself, "Why is there an anime girl in my house?":

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND01.jpg

Some of you may remember Florah Gustafsen, Bjorn and Ingrid's daughter, from much earlier in the thread. This is her slightly older twin sister, Lylah. She's here because Severus's daughter Wendy spotted her walking by the house and invited her in. Florah and Lylah are nearly complete opposites; Florah tends to be a bit of a slob and is very outgoing, while Lylah is shy and something of a neatnik. Their Aspirations and interests don't match up much, either. Despite this the girls get along remarkably well, although Lylah no doubt wishes Florah was a little less boisterous. As for Severus, he had dinner, helped Wendy with her homework, played chess with Lylah for awhile, and went to bed. He'd had a very full day, including a promotion.

Poor, poor Terrence:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND02.jpg

Dmitri got the Day One call for a trip downtown; turned out it was from Rhonda, who seems to be quite taken with the Russian doctor. The game opted to send Terrence along as well. Here he's seen dying of embarassment, Rhonda having just told Dmitri a cute little story about him getting his head stuck in a mailbox. Dunno how he did that. Two other unhappy teens were in Londoste that night:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND03.jpg

Long story short: xxxClaire snuck out of the house and went downtown for some fun, and Imaginary Light busted her. Lynnie was not pleased. Lot of troublemakers in that house; at least Linestra behaves herself. Mostly.

The Valley Pest checks out his bad self:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND04.jpg

Wouldn't y'all just love to smack him? Gabe does this all the time, without any prompting from me. He preens constantly, hits on anything in a skirt, bothers everyone else, and is convinced that he's the game's gift to women everywhere. He's a riot to play. I think I mentioned that eventually Terrence is going to beat him up. Yes, I will film the event.

All eyes are turning to Eduardo as he sucks down a sandwich:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND05.jpg

Also present at the table are Travis McBride, the New Guy, Candida Westlane, and Amanda Blue; this pic is from Amanda's dining room. The first three are Amanda's Welcome Wagon; Eduardo is present because he was the 2:00 PM walkby and Amanda, who likes company, invited him to join the gang for lunch. Oh, fortunate Eduardo... (mind wanders) Uh, where was I? Yeah. Later in the day, it was Dr. von Kohl's turn to feed people:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND06.jpg

You know Coco and Mr. Herriman, of course. The other diner is Marta Dunay, the Valley Pest's younger sister, who is much sweeter than her brother but still quite a handful. All three were walkbys that Werner invited in, presumably so he could test his cooking skills on them. Coco is complaining about Gabe in the pic. After dinner, the girls amused themselves with gossip and the TV while Werner and Mr. Herriman hit the chess table. Fun evening for all.

Allyn Thomason meets Lavender Fred, and is not happy about it:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND07.jpg

Nor should she be. Allyn came with the Seasons expansion and is in every neighborhood in every game. Quite a sweetheart, too, albeit a little lazy. Lavender is someone I downloaded from the Exchange. A lot of Sims have little personality quirks; some are smarter than others, several are obsessed with emptying the trash compactor, a few are intent on hugging everyone they meet, and at least one actually seems to be aware of me. Lavender's quirk is that she's agressive. She has poked, slapped, and/or shoved at least three times as many people as anyone else ever has, and has beaten the crap out of at least two other women. On this evening she's decided to pick on poor Allyn. I have no idea why she does this. I don't think her creator uploaded her because he wanted to share, no; he wanted to be rid of her. Lavender lives in Pleasantview on my old computer, so y'all will never have to deal with her... unless I create a new package file.

A genetics experiment gone horribly wrong:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND08.jpg

There are two particularly attractive Sims that come with the game, which I cloned back into the Create-A-Sim program with a hack. After some fiddling, Liza was created from their combined genetic code (yes, Sims have a genetic code). So was Lloyd. Combining their codes produced their children, Milton and Marcella. The problem is their personalities. Lloyd and Marcella have only 3 points in Nice, which is the level at which Sims start smacking teddy bears. Liza and Milton have only 1 point in Nice. They live on Silverrock Island, not Foster's Valley. Be very thankful.

And finally, also living on Silverrock Island, the one and only Jimmy Montero:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND09.jpg

A rock star turned game designer, Jimmy is a really nice guy, extremely playful, and a lazy slob. Here he is, indulging in his favorite activity, bouncing on the sofa. Left to his own devices, he will do nothing all day but bounce, play videogames, blow bubbles, and indulge himself in whatever activity strikes him as the most fun at the moment. Seated nearby is his daughter Sierra, who has long since gotten used to her father's antics. Here's another look:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/RND10.jpg

The red-haired woman is his wife, former B-movie actress Uma Marshall. You can almost hear her disapproval as Sierra says, "Look, mom! Daddy's lost his mind!" The couple, one of Hollywood's more colorful marriages, have another daughter named Sasha, not seen here because she's asleep, exhausted from being an angsty emo goth at the mall all day. No family makes me laugh and shake my head more than the Montero's do.

Okay, that about covers it; hope you enjoy these pics as much as I did. If you'll excuse me, I've got a hole to plug.

Imaginary Light 03-14-2008 06:57 AM

That picture of Gabe cracked me up 8D I think I can hear him saying, "I'm one hot piece of man!"

And I was looking through those Sim outfits...do you think you can change my outfit to this? It reminds me of what I usually tend to wear :)

Lynnie 03-14-2008 10:36 PM

Claire? Sneak out? 8D Poor Claire, she looks like she's about to cry. *hugs Claire* Now, no sneaking out again, ok?

Quote:

*snaps fingers* Come back, Cass! Where'd ya go? 8D

Haha, the last picture of Jimmy jumping on the sofa had me laughing. He's about to fall and crack his head open. Can you imagine having a dad like that? The nightmares!

Did you get the game working again, Cass? :)

Cassini90125 03-16-2008 04:51 PM

I was able to change people's clothing but I'm still getting crashes, mostly when trying to get people home from a community lot (mall, park, etc.), and unfortunately when that happens it's like the trip never took place; when I next play the home lot the Sims simply show up in a cab, like they went out for a two-minute drive. It seems to be happening more frequently, too, and it's guaranteed to happen if anyone tries to buy clothing. I don't know who to ask for help about this; a lot of the Sims sites don't seem to be terribly hospitable to non-technical people (MATY being the worst), and the only advice you ever get from EA Games is to get rid of your custom content, uninstall and reinstall the game, and of course the usual line about how the company is not legally responsible for anything.

I hate this, I truly do. It hurts. :frankiemad:

Sacu-ROM: The Revenge?

Actually it may be, to some extent. Among it's other tricks, SecuROM reconfigures your security settings, leaving your ports open to potential attacks. There are currently at least two trojans and/or viruses on my system that have resisted all attempts to remove them, plus a possible rootkit as well, and the stars alone know what they're doing here. On my old system the game suffered crashes due to the presence of a particularly persistent piece of adware known as "EliteWare AdBar". Norton was never able to remove it although Spy Sweeper wiped it out easily. That ancient machine shouldn't be able to run the game but it does, and the pic of Lavender Fred shown above proves it. The graphics aren't great but it doesn't crash. (I played it last night, by the way; Lavender stayed home, much to the other Sims' relief. 8D). The game still plays on my main system but obviously it has problems, which stem from various sources. Later today I'm running a program that's supposed to remove orphaned mesh files (yeah, that tells you a lot :bloocross:), which may help a bit. After that it's time to create a restore point and clean the registry, and if that doesn't do the trick I'll reformat the hard drive. Everything's backed up so I won't lose anything other than time (and probably a few sanity points :P). After that it'll simply be a matter of reassembling everything back to what it's supposed to be, and we go from there.

From what I understand, the real Gabe is a piece of... eh, you know.

I did manage to change your outfit. Last I saw, you were chatting with Linestra in the middle of the street. Fortunately the game does not include traffic.

She's doing the crossword puzzle. Later in the day she made the previously mentioned spaghetti, as she's the only one in the house who had the sense to pick up a couple of Cooking skill points. Smart girl.

Coco brought him home from school the other day. She thinks he's cute, Wilt thinks he's obnoxious, and Eduardo never ran into him. Naturally, he and Bendy got along just fine. 8D

Given that the game is behaving horribly and due to other issues as well I've decided that I have no choice other that to reformat my system. Whether or not that will improve the game's performance I don't know but at least I'll be rid of Fujif-Gen, Virtumonde, Atdmt.com, and whatever else has taken up unauthorized residence on my hard drive. The fun starts early this evening, probably around 5:00 PM-ish or so, so if you don't see me around this evening or tommorrow, now you know why. I may check in via my laptop if this takes too long. Wish me luck.

Government Man 03-19-2008 08:34 PM

Good luck!

Cassini90125 03-26-2008 08:20 AM

No reformat as of yet. The Windows XP disc appears to be missing. :frankiemad:

Outfits were changed for those who requested changes. I'm trying to advance the plotline without game-crashing trips to other lots. Frustrating but it's the only option available at the moment. In the meantime...

They'll manage. Funny thing is, Imaginary Light is there because Eduardo brought her home from school. Wilt and Coco brought guests home as well, so the House was a little busy that day.

Got a couple of "change outfit" requests earlier from Imaginary Light and Lynnie, which were taken care of via my favorite game hack; thought y'all might want to see how they look:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/03083.jpg

Linestra, the best behaved person in the Never Forgotten house (thank you, Linestra!), chats with Imaginary Light in the middle of the street, as I mentioned a few posts back. No danger of a runaway truck, here; you see traffic when viewing the entire neighborhood but never when playing an individual lot. The only vehicles that show up are the bus, various service worker and emergency vehicles, and the taxi. The phrase "Go play in traffic" is not in a Sim's vocabulary. In the background, Sparky has started another pillow fight. A minute later, inside the house, it's time to learn more about cooking:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/03085.jpg

xxxClaire is reading a cookbook; Linestra and Lynnie are watching the Yummy Channel, the game's equivalent to the Food Network. Learning from the cookbook is faster but not as much fun. All three will gain a point of Cooking skill next time I play the house, and 1,000 Aspiration Points as a bonus. I'm hoping to raise Lynnie's skill level by a point within the next game hour; company's coming soon, and I want them well-fed. :)

For those interested in what the rest of the house was up to when I took this pic, Jekylljuice was in the shower after stomping around in a puddle, x_dummkoff_x was making a sandwich, Imaginary Light was seeking work on one computer, and Sparky was screaming at the other. Bloo was on the Forum at the time. 'Nuff said. :blooevil:

Imaginary Light 03-28-2008 10:21 AM

Haha! Bloo on the forum. That's is *ahem* very, uh...special.:P

Liking the new outfits, by the way:)

antgirl1 03-28-2008 12:37 PM

Fomalhaut 03-28-2008 03:46 PM

I like the new outfits as well; and those outdoors pollow fights always make me laugh :)

Lynnie 03-28-2008 05:29 PM

Wow, I wish the streets in real life were that quiet. Having all that room to run and play in. And "ice skate" on when there's a sheet of ice on the pavement.

<--- refuses to grow too old to play in the street :bloosmirk:

Anyway, I'm liking the new outfits, too. Thank you! What did Lynnie end up cooking that evening?

Be glad you don't have to moderate him. Funny thing is, he has no idea that the site is about a cartoon; when he bothers to think about it at all, he thinks it's about his and everyone else's old lives in the Pacific northwest. He spends all of his time either in the Spam section or trying to get into the office. He doesn't know he's been animated and added to CN's line-up. Might be just as well, but there's something odd about that.

Okay, I'm done prepping the future storyline now...

You should see them whipping water balloons at each other. Fortunately the game doesn't let them do that indoors; if it did, the mall would be flooded by now.

Foster's Valley - Eight new pics from the House of Cheese

Sorry, not much serious drama here, just a little yellow dimwit:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a1.jpg

Cheese, back from school, shrugs after reading his report card. He's not doing badly, all things considered; Barbara helps him with his homework and Louise encourages him to do extra work, so he's keeping pace with the other students. Public school is very draining for Sims, particularly on the Fun meter (I'm not making that up), so after class Louise heads straight for her dollhouse:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a2.jpg

It's not a cheap item but it's worth the price, as it keeps her happy for hours on end. On one of the Sims sites someone made a full-size replica of the dang thing that Sims can actually live in; pretty nice, too. Cheese plays with it as well, but at the moment he wants to tell Barbara about what he learned in class today:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a3.jpg

Additional comments by me don't really seem necessary. Cheese prattled on for a solid hour, Barbara's mood sinking by the minute. Eventually he stopped and his mind went vacant as he watched TV:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a4.jpg

Gotta love that "nobody's home" expression on his face. Barbara, in desperate need of adult company, got on the phone and invited Derek Monroe over for dinner. He soon arrived and the two chatted outside for a bit:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a5.jpg

Barbara is gossiping about Samantha. Not exactly a smart move to talk about her behind her back, lest she find out about it, but then again Barbara and Derek are both newcomers to this part of the Valley and have no idea who they're messing with. The girl is dangerous, period. Talk soon shifted to other topics, and from outside to the dinner table:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a6.jpg

Chef salad is tonight's dinner. To the amusement of the adults, Cheese is boasting to Louise that he can finish dinner before she can. "Oh yeah? Prove it," says Louise, and Cheese immediately goes into action:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a7.jpg

Louise just stared at him as he dived in with both hands. He finished first, alright, and as a reward for being the fastest eater in the house he got a mild case of gastrointestinal distress:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/c2a8.jpg

Again, additional comments by me don't really seem necessary. Not much else happened after that; the adults played on the swings, the kids watched TV, Derek went home and the family went to bed. A long day, but a good day.

Since the game was being cooperative this afternoon I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and played the Never Forgotten house after exiting the House of Cheese (I love that name). Pics from what went on there will be up soon. :)

Haha, Cheese shares what he learned at school. :cheese: That was great!

I feel sorry for Barbara. Poor woman, she must dread going home, knowing he'll be there, and will just annoy the living daylights out of her.

These are pretty fun indeed. Looking forward to the new pics! (And what about ME?)

I seldom make any real changes to Sims screencaps other than for cosmetic reasons so what you see is what actually happened during play, but the Spam smilie worked so well and had me giggling so hard I had to add it.

Barbara's home all day but yeah, she doesn't really look forward to Cheese coming home from school. Neither he nor Louise have brought any classmates home yet but eventually they will, and for Barbara's sake I hope Goo isn't one of them.

Still trying to hunt up a better outfit for you; you're remarkably difficult to dress for some reason. Not to worry, though, I'll find something soon.

In a place so very close yet so very far from Foster's Valley, the Simmaster opened a thing he called the Package Editor. The Package Editor, known as SimPE by many, was a tool more powerful than all the others in the Simmaster's vast arsenal, and indeed it was SimPE that made many of those other tools possible. Created by the great genius Quaxi in a faraway place known as Germany, SimPE could do what few other tools could do; it had the power to destroy memory holes and remove corruption from individual Sims. One by one the Simmaster began examining the memories of each of his Sims, and the memories of each lot and the neighborhood as a whole for these, too, had memories of their own. Holes were found; holes were patched. But it was a herculean task and eventually the Simmaster grew tired from the work, and decided to continue it on another day. As he closed down SimPE, in his exhaustion he inadvertently clicked a button that he should not have, and a change was made to one house in the Valley, a change he did not want. The Simmaster beheld the error, assessed the unwanted change, and spoke aloud:

"Oops."

Foster's Valley - When the calendar breaks

Early Thursday morning, Linestra, still full from the previous night's dinner, tops off with a snack while in the background xxxClaire amuses herself by juggling water bottles:

It's the start of an ordinary day, meaning there's about two hours to kill before the bus arrives, more than enough time to do a little primping before class:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y02.jpg

When xxxClaire or any other Sim does this it's cute; when Gabe does it it's obnoxious. The sun rose minutes later, giving Sparky a good view of the garbage can as she took out the trash:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y03.jpg

She also got a good view of the trees and was astonished to see that they were green. Doesn't sound like a big deal except it's the middle of autumn. It's warm out, too, like it is in late summer. The morning newspaper hasn't arrived, either. She knows something's not right but isn't sure what. Imaginary Light, on the other hand, is very sure that she wants to earn a little money and boost her creativity, both of which can be done with the easel. So she begins a painting, hoping to get as much done as she can before the bus arrives:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y04.jpg

But the schoolbus never showed up. Another anomaly, albeit one that nobody's complaining about too much. 10:00 AM arrived, and it being Thursday, the tax bill is due to arrive. The mailman didn't come. Something is seriously wrong. Not that Linestra and Lynnie care; seen here, Linestra studies the way of the mop and the sponge, on her way to a point of Cleaning skill, while Lynnie enjoys a good laugh at what's on TV:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y05.jpg

It's the Hollywood gossip report; seems that Jimmy Montero got a bad sunburn while sunbathing the other day. Rumor has it that he was nude. Ow. The anomalies are piling up and Sparky has a hunch; she goes to check it on her computer but first has to deal with x_dummkoff_x:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y06.jpg

She has reasoned that since the mailman didn't arrive and there was no tax bill that means there's extra money in the household budget so can she get this necklace that's on sale at the mall pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease !?!? Sparky rolled her eyes, pointed at the door, and told x_dummkoff_x to pick up groceries while she's out. Off she went. xxxClaire, who's been on the swings, reentered the house and passed by Linestra, who had just gained that point of Cleaning skill and a thousand Aspiration points to boot:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y07.jpg

xxxClaire: "No school today! How cool is that?"
Linestra: "Totally cool!"
Lynnie: "Ugh! Jimmy, put your pants on! What's wrong with you!?!?"

Sparky in the meantime made it to her computer and checked her hunch. It's summer when it should be autumn, the schoolbus never arrived, there's no mail and no newspaper. And in the lower right hand corner of her monitor is the final piece of the puzzle. It's supposed to be Thursday, but it's not. The calendar says it's Monday. Somehow, time in the Never Forgotten house has been reset back to the beginning. And she realizes that there is an inevitable consequence to a reset like this.

The Welcome Wagon is coming back.
