I just got my new issue of Nintendo Power today, and inside was an advert for a new Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends game on the Gameboy Advance.
It said in the advert that you can "play as you're favorite characters", so I'm guessing that it means Bloo, Mac, Eduardo, Wilt and Coco. I'll try and hunt down some more info, guys.

Yay,that is good news, maybe I can play as Goo.

Anyway you can scan the Ad and post it here? Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I reda the third quarter, of course that's gone. Should be soon since I saw the Camp Lazlo game which is supposed to be shipping at the same time.

It does look as if this is already out. I'll look for it tomorrow. But I am a HORRIBLE gamer so I won't be able to do well or get far so I won't be able to tell you much about later levels or anything. ;)

I may get it with some b-day money, just because I'm hankering for Foster's stuff. i do want a PS2 game too or PS3.

GameFAQs says that it'll be out "Q4 2006". I'll be keeping an eye out for professional online reviews... if there's any.

Unless I hear it's surprisingly good, I'm not going to waste my time or money on this. I HATE licensed games, and I hate it even more when it's based on a property I like.

I can't scan the add since my scanner dosent work, but the add does say "Available now" on it. The Fosters game is advertised on the same page with the Camp Lazlo game aswell.
I found a site with info and screneshots of the game here.

I went to two places today and neither had it. I had one guy look it up and it wasn't even in their system; they even called one of their managers, who had the day off, at home to see if he'd heard of it. He'd heard of the show but not the game. :P

At this point I'm going to order it online, just to be sure to get it. I had wanted it in time for Halloween so I could play it (I'm going as Gaz and my GBA is actually part of my costume) but I guess I'll have to play something else.

edit: Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/gba/action/fostershomeforimaginaryfriends/index.html) says it comes out on the 30th! So maybe I can get one that day. I should see if they can preorder me one at GameStop or something.

I thought you said you liked SW games.

Star Wars is an exception to the norm. There have been plenty of average-to-awful SW games released; I won't deny that. It's just that the franchise has become so prestigious and iconic, that some developers are inspired to actually tap into the full potential of the mythos and create something that has as much artistic and/or entertainment value as the movies themselves(Knights of the Old Republic for the former, the Rogue Squadron trilogy for the latter). Another exception(Even though I've unfortunately never played it) would be GoldenEye 007, which remains one of the most acclaimed N64 games and first-person shooters ever.

I really hope I'm proven wrong by this upcoming Foster's game. Such a wonderful show deserves far better than the usual assembly-line licensed hack job.

Yeah, there have been some horrid SW games, but some SB games have been fun & Nick usually spits out crap games.

I remember my old PPG Game Boy Color games... I liked them... Good times, good times...

My brother was buying Game Boy games today, and I almost made him wait so he could buy the Foster's game and I could steal it and play it. But, I let him buy his Cars, Monster House, and Spider-Man games, because I knew he'd just erase my game somehow, like he always does...

This game is NOT out yet, and it doesn't look like its coming out on the 30th either. I've checked with three major stores/chains here in Sacramento and it's not in anyone's databases at all. All anyone can suggest to me is that its release date has been pushed back.

If anyone knows that it *is* out or *will* be out on the 30th, please contact me - even if you're not a member of thsi board, please email me or use the "Contact Us" form on the forum (link at the bottom of the page). Thanks.

According to GameFAQ's, they say that Foster's will be out on the 30'th.

But sadly they are not the most trusted source for this kind of info, and besides the whole 30'th thing sounds a bit suspect as new video games generally get released on a Tuseday, along with the new DVD's.

Sorry, guys. I completly forgot that Nintendo Power releases their issues in a "half-month early" kind of way. So the advetrs in the magazine would be saying something that is "available now" is most likely a couple weeks away. I'm really sorry if I caused you guys any major confusion.:(

Its a pretty bad game. It takes me back to the SNES days where THQ whold grab the licence to any cartoon and turn it into a platform game, not matter what the subject it whould be a platform game.

And as for the music, an elephant could of done better!

So early reviews indicate that Foster's first video game, is not going to be taking any "Game of the Year" awards come January.

Here's hoping that Cartoon Network interactive will give the task of making the next Foster's video game, to a company that will give a better effort.

I've played the ROM. It's neither bad or good, just "meh", and ridiculously easy. But I like how you can freely explore the house, and the dialogue stays true to the show's spirit, so I'll give it credit for at least that.

The levels are based on actual episodes. So far, I've encountered "House of Bloos", "Dinner is Swerved", "Mac Daddy" and "The Trouble With Scribbles" in that order. Between "DiS" and "MD" there was a mini-level called "Battle of the Brothers" which was a boss fight against Terrance.

EDIT: Well... I've beaten it ALREADY. Along with the previously mentioned, "Seeing Red"(see next paragraph), "Who Let The Dogs In", "Busted" and "Duchess of Wails" are also levels. Very easy, very simplistic, and not really worth purchasing unless you want to own everything Foster's.

Oh, and you never actually fight Red in the game. He appears in one of the boss fights against Terrance; he stomps the ground and causes a quake, which you must use against Terrance. And he turns good and hugs both Mac and Bloo in the following cutscene. No need to worry about Red going bad. ;D

So it sounds like the game was made for the target audiance of kids around 10 or so. Thats about what I figured. It's nothing to get upset over, i guess. It had potential but this was the likelyest outcome.

The ROM File is downloading now... I'll post my review.

Edit: Oh lol. Here goes, á la "Hall of Cheese" (google it - hilarious.). A note off in the Title Screen music and there's a wrong end, plus it kept playing the whole story. Later, I found out the walking sprites simply suck. Everyone is like leaning towards a direction. And Mac can fly and hover in the air! Which was needed as there were flying platforms in the dining room! \o/
Oh yeah. I had to collect stuff for Duchess, she was ruining her room. Lol. And you have to see this pic. Best moment in the game yet.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba.jpg

Ok, that was fun.
Right after this, I went to the kitchen to calm down Coco. Then I found out Bloo can become a ball and can roll. lik wtf :( OK, I went through the next door.
I saw Cheese who was 2 times bigger than Bloo. OMG! And look at these lines. Like a newbie posting on the SA Forums. :/

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-1.jpg

I gave him chocolate milk and started talking about some random towel. WTF. I rolled under the couch, got a towel, went to the next room. Then it's completed! Back to the main hall.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-2.jpg

Whoaly zen he's strong. And this. Flying stairs.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-3.jpg

Awesome effect though. OK, I went off to Duchess' Room. At least, in the hallway, there was Ed. Who moved away a frikkin' randomly placed drawer that was originally placed in front of Duchess' Room.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-4.jpg

Good question. Bloo answered: "In the disinfectant?". Good answer.
I started noticing that there has only one piece of music been played yet so I just put it off now. -_-
Thereafter, I found Bloo's room. Wilt was there. Getting the Mike Wazowski treatment. Poor Wilt... (just kidding, you could really see his head when the text box was gone.
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-5.jpg

Then, we needed Duchess' blanket. I asked it, and...

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-6.jpg

That's Wilt alright. Then, he lifted me up to the bed, and I got the blanket.
Look at this.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-7.jpg

"Nope, nothing in here."
OK, now I have all of Duchess' things. And I go to her room. Then she says that that junk is awful and we need better stuff. SIMPLY GREAT!
The brush was in Duchess' room anyway. Lazy lazy person. She started throwing stuff at me. Then I gave it to Frankie who was there, helping too.
It faded out, then in again, and Madame Foster came into the room.
AHH, DDD-DEMON!

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-8.jpg

They like stressed all those wrinkles too much. It's ugly now.
OK, DiS Started. The previous "episode" was House of Bloo's.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/HappyFoppy/fhifgba-9.jpg

I can't remember him having binoculars in DiS at all. Oh well, Bloo and Mac went down. Under my assistance.

THE END FOR NOW. Bye. I'll continue this. It's sorta bad, but fun.

That's actually one of my favorite things about the game. It, along with how you can freely explore the mansion and gradually gain access to new areas, reminds me quite a bit of Metroid.

I finally found a copy of this elusive game today at Fry's Electronics, in Sacramento. I had asked the guys there about it in October when they didn't have it, and the guy I talked to remembered me when they came in and was glad I came back. I'll try to work on it tonight. Apparently most places hadn't even ordered it when it was released, assuming it wouldn't move. Perhaps they will start to carry it now in preparation for the holidays.

I tackled this game late last night, so I didn't get far before I had to quit and go to bed - but apparently there is no way to save it or even get codes to resume where you left off. :( If there was and I missed it, please let me know.

I actually like this game aside from all the long speeches the characters give that you have to click though. The "fetch things for Duchess" quest reminded me of my game that I'm making, as there's a "fetch things for Duchess" quest in there as well, with only 3 items (but one is also a mirror). But one of my items is pretty unique. ;) There's also a part in my game where you have to get something to give to Cheese so he'll do something, but it ain't chocolate milk. Anyways.

I do like the game, its cute and easy, and as previously stated I am a lousy gamer so I like the easy ones. But I do think a tougher, cooler game for FHFIF should come out in the future.

This is the reason why the Game Boy Advance Fosters game was terrible: it was NOT developed and published by a Japanese company. My suggestion for a next Foster's Home of Imaginary Friends game should be a RPG developed by a company called Sting Co. Ltd. This is the company that made Treasure Hunter G for the SNES (Japan Only Release), and my favorite, Evolution and Evolution 2, for the Dreamcast, and Evolution Worlds (another favorite) for the Gamecube, and Rivera: The Promised Land for the Game Boy Advance. The publisher would be Capcom USA, Inc. I hate to be rude, but the Japanese make better video games than we do. If the Japanese did the Foster's game for the Game Boy Advance, maybe it wouldn't suck so bad. It seems that every cartoon that is American made, has to have a video game made by an American company, like Electronic Arts and Activision and Take Two Software. I want to know why do they do this.

Voxxyn
01-02-2007, 04:14 PM
With all due respect, I can't agree that "all Japanese developers rock and all American developers suck". There have been some phenomenal games made by American-based developers.

The Foster's game being bad has nothing to do with nationality. It's a bad game because it was designed to be a simple cash-in, with absolutely no thought given to quality gameplay. The same goes for nearly every cartoon and kid-friendly property that receives a tie-in game. It's only purpose is to make Cartoon Network further profit from the license.

Jabberwocky

megatron01
01-02-2007, 06:05 PM
I know, but I think the main reason why it was bad is because Crave Entertainment whipped out the game too fast . The developers were trying to get everything done quickly, thus resulting on the bugs, such as Mac on top of Mr. Herriman. Japanese developers carefully get the game done as good as possible, without bugs. Remember the old saying, "Slow and steady wins the race." This means that if you get the game done too fast, it would be bad. If the developer learns to take it slow, and easy, the game will be perfect. Yes, its true, American based developers have done a few great games.

Oh, one more thing, can somebody try to convert the font used on the black windows in the game to a True Type font?

Gamefly has it for rent if it hasn't already been mentioned.

Next time I want a game for the consoles where you can play as Bloo, Mac, Wilt, Ed, Coco, & Frankie. The plot may be you have to save the house from a REALLY evil friend. Mini- bosses would be:
Terrence
Duchess
The Space-Nut Boogies
Lil' Lincoln/ Moose
Foul Larry
Evil Guy Goons

You can unlock Cheese,Red,Goo & Jhakie Khones.

I think Square-Enix should make the next Foster's game, and it should be an RPG for the Game Boy Advance, and the plot should be like this:

Before the city where Fosters is was built, an evil kingdom as the Palamecia Empire ruled over all. 5 young heroes killed the Emperor of Palamecia and saved the land. 790 years later, (in present day) Foster's is on top of the site where whe Emperor's castle/dungeon stood, whereas it was his burial grounds. One day, Bloo was busy being crazy, when suddenly he found another secret door, only this time it was nailed and chained up,and there was no way to get in. Bloo found the key and accidently revived the Emperor of Palamecia back from the dead! What Mac, Bloo, Wilt, Edwardo, and Frankie don't know is that they are the decendants of the 5 heroes that killed the Emperor 790 years ago. Can Mac and his friends kill the Emperor before the world is destroyed? I jope this is a good idea, because I only like RPG's. Platformers are Ok, as long it has a LOT of RPG enements, making it an Action/RPG.

lol Square Enix should make every single game there is. But honestly speaking, while Foster's is kind of popular, it's not that popular that it can be sold out to Enix for making I think? :( It'd be great to have an awesome game and stuff, but remember that (1) it IS a kids show and it has to be simple, and (2) it's concentrated more on being an animation than merchandise/games/etc. I mean, look at all the movie/show based games that came out. :( Ah well, we can dream...
