Hmm, what's something I've never tried before? Oh, I know! A sprite recolor! Ooh! How about a Pikachu with Mewtwo colors! It'll be a blast!

It was a long, tedious, and somewhat boring project. At least the results made it all worth while.

So, a sprite recolor is where you take a sprite (Pixelated character from a video game) and go through lots of hard work to get it to be a different color. Here's the process of...

B2dM's first "Sprite recolor" thing!

Okey dokey. STEP 1: TAIL.

Down there you can see the colors of Mewtwo's tail. Al I had to do was find out which parts of Pikachu's tail, were equivilant to which parts of Mewtwo's tail. And the results were as shown above. Decent, no? At this point I was sure the project was going to be easy... until...

STEP 2: BODY

Ugh. Thirty minutes of that. So, It's looking good and all, but notice how Pikachu's outline is still yellow and brown? That's gotta go, and be replaced with the colors of Mewtwo's outline, so I figured out which colors of mewtwo's outline needed to go where while performing...

STEP 3: OUTLINE

And that was about the icing on the cake. So we've got the whole project done now. Let's view some result shots that AREN'T close up! (In otherwords, lets view it like how you'd see it in the game.)

And the process of Pikatwo*brick'd*:

So there you have it. I thought it turned out decent, and pretty awesome for a first time thing. So, what do you guys think?

Awesome work though.

For some reason, it just didn't feel right coloring the base of the tail. So I didn't. *shrug*

And thanks everyone! I just might try some more next time I have some free time on my hands.

If you have a more advanced tool like Paintshop Pro, you can just reduce the Pikachu to 256 colors and edit the palette there. It saves a lot of time, and is less painful to do.
