It just occurred to me that no one's restarted the thread for Mac's beloved older brother. :P

I like Terrence. Sure, he's a bully and a jerk, but it's hard to hate anyone that stupid. Besides, he can't be all that bad; after all, he did create Red. ;D

Compared to some of the other antagonist characters, Terrance is quite tolerable. And he's really funny too.

Terrence cracks me up, and I have to say that he is one of my fave characters. And this is from someone who pretty much... well, treated him like crap in fanfics...

He's got that idiotic bully thing, yet he's humorous.

He reminds me a lot of Francis on FOP, except I think that all the Francis jokes are kind of stupid, and Terrence cracks me up.

If there's a character that should be on the show more, it's Terrence.

I've only seen one episode with him in it and I didn't exactly take to him. I guess I have to see more. I actually had no idea he was Mac's brother until I read a few posts on the old forum.

He's an entertaining antagonist, when used correctly (as he usually is).

The writters have it right not making him an every episode character, I think. You can't create too much conflict on the show.

Agreed. Favorite character or not, I'm glad he's not in too many episodes.

Terrance starting off the whole "Two Towers" reference that ran for (if I remember correctly) nearly the rest of the episode was brilliance.

As for Terrence himself, I love him. He's not one of my favorite characters, but I've always had this sort of soft-spot for him. I still think his shining moment was his interactions in "Infernal Slumber", if just for the fact that he lifts six people (including Eduardo) off of him. I mean, I know he's a seemingly atheletic kid, but daaang.....

Exactly. I mean, I know it was just a sight gag and all, but something about that scene just still made me go WHOA! That would have to be some adrenaline rush, is all I'm saying........

There have been verified reports of people lifting HORSES in moments of immense adrenalin rushes, to remove them from burning stables. Horses are notoriously dumb when it comes to fire and getting one out of a blazing structure, unhurt, can be a real challenge. A full-grown horse usually weighs at least half a ton. Not too many years ago, a man in the town where I work came upon the scene of a recent highway accident, in which a woman had been thrown from her large SUV and it had rolled over on her, pinning her. Eyewitnesses said that this man ran up and actually lifted the SUV off of the woman's body and rolled it back upright, singlehandedly! He is not a body builder or anything, just an ordinary middle-aged guy. Sadly, his efforts were in vain, as the woman had already died, but it was incredible what he did, thanks to that little stress hormone.

There is a lot of evidence that Terrence is a very athletic kid, though, and I keep hoping we will get to see more of this, in a more positive way. He's got football and baseball equipment in his room, and there's that photo in the living room of him up at bat. I get the impression, though, that Terrence probably does not play sports anymore, and most likely his mom's schedule has a lot to do with it. He has no one to go to games or to support him in such efforts, so why bother? He's wasting the one big talent he DOES have because of that.

mistermoze, your avatar rocks.

Nathander
11-15-2006, 07:17 PM
You know, I remember the canabilism question being raised before, and that really disturbs me because I honestly don't know how to answer. I mean, how would he have been treated if someone caught him? Would people not care and let it pass, seeing as how it "was just an IF", or could he have actually faced some penalty for it? While I'm sure we'll never really get it, I would like it if they'd clarify the rights of IFs in the show, though from what we can tell they don't seem to have very many.

And for what it's worth, I think I need to mention that Terrence at the pizza friend out of pure hunger and reaction, not any actual malice. He still took a life, but...........yeah, I can't really think of any defense. :(

Cassini90125
11-15-2006, 07:20 PM
Cannibalism is the consumption of one's own species. Terrence ate an IF, not a human, so he's not a cannibal. Just a killer. :P

Wow, I'm surprised noone else has posted much on Terrence's strong points.

For one, he created Red. In much the same way that Mac made Bloo to represent the repressed selfichness and irrationality inside him (A popular theory I subscribe to), I think Terrence made Red to represent the feminine side Terrence is ashamed of (I'm trying to watch my stories-uhhhhh....I gotta go hit something!").

Also, I never saw the pilot 'till after getting hooked on Fosters, so before I did, I thought he was just a dumb jerk, but in the pilot, one instance intrigued me. It was when Mac's awesome plan was being played out to destroy the Extremeasaur, and Duchess's and Terrence's plan was falling down around their ears. Duchess says "Don't just stand there, do something!", to which Terrence replies "Shut up! I'm watching this!". This shows, to me, that he's more interested in seeing cool stuff than being a jerk to Mac, so there's hope for him.

I kinda (futilely) hope that Terrence renounces his evil ways and joins the group in the same way as Goo. His stupidity and differing tastes from the Fosters Five would still make him generate enough plot to stop him being superfluous in this situation. I just think It's be cool, probably 'cause Terrence's tastes in cool stuff and his dislike of some of the more childish stuff makes him more relatable to me.

After all, Extremasaur fighting circut? Awesome! If you could work around the cruelty expressed there.

Coincidently, not long ago there was a post about an email recieved from a "Frankie Foster", which sadly was no more than just spam. Well, yesterday (or, two days ago, now), I checked my mail, and look what I found-

Terrance isn't my favorite character by any means but I do like him when he shows up. I think they did it right by not having him in in the show too much because, unless they can think up some new twists for him, he'd get kind of old pretty quickly.

Okay you guys, am I the only one wondering if there may actually be some sort of explaination that will come up in a later ep explaining Terrence's total absence thus far from Season 5? Wasn't Infernal Slumber his last ep? I don't think he's even been mentioned aside from when Mac was wanting to buy his Rocket Wars figures back in The Buck Swaps Here (and that wasn't a reference to anything recent anyways), but correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe Terrence has actually been so occupied with something that he either hasn't been interacting with Mac (so there's simply no reason to show him in an episode), or he actually hasn't been home. Maybe he went to stay with his dad or something. If so, is Mac's turn to go visit his dad coming up? If so, what will happen to Bloo? I guess they wouldn't actually do anything like that in the show unless it were another movie, and its too soon for there to be another movie...Well I was just thinking, and wondering where the hell my favorite character has gone to. I thought it may have actually been intentional on the part of the writers for him to be absent for so long. Or maybe that's just what I'm hoping. :P

I wish I knew. The Foster’s Crew have proven to have a lot of talent when it comes to making these episodes, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they have something involving Terrence up their sleeves. I’ve missed a lot of episodes, as I’ve said frequently, but I liked Terrence and I’m hoping your theories are correct. At the very least, here’s hoping that Terrence makes a return to the series before too much longer.

I merged your thread with this one because we already have a thread about Terrence, Nothing personal, mind you. ;)

As I recall there's been a lot of speculation about that question on the old Forum but no definitive answer. It could have something to do with his absent father and his parent's divorce, or he might just be a jerk. I doubt we'll get much more information from the show but you never know.

IMHO I've always been a subscriber to the theory that there isn't some kind of deep rooted reason as to why Terrence acts the way he does.

The kind of antagonistic behavior on display on the show is just a common thing that often occurs amongst older and younger siblings, regardless of the situation at home. (Of course being a Cartoon and all, what happens on Foster's is ramped up greatly for full comedic/dramatic effect.)

Sibling rivalry is just as common in a two parent household as it is in a single parent household. (I am sure many people, will be able to back up that assertion.)

iluvBlooQKazoo
10-15-2008, 12:42 PM
Yeah there must be a lot of logical reasons as to why Terrence is a bitter and jerky brother, but we may never know until Craig (not sure if I spelled his name right) tell us til then all we can do is guess. You're right about sibling rivaltys 'cause thats the main things almost all siblings do, I say almost because me and my younger brother are as close as anything. :cheese: But my other little brother hates me and everyone else I don't know why.

I think Terrence has improved a bit since the pilot. He's kind of, still a bully and a jerk but not so bad. Like, in "Eddie Monster" he asked Mac what was up with him and spoke with him quite civilly, and he hasn't really bullied him THAT much in other episodes, so maybe him and Mac got better with each other once Bloo left. People say Terrence is one of the reasons Mac created Bloo, but maybe Bloo was one of the reasons Terrence became a jerk. Jealousy and all.

Personally, I wish there were some episodes were Terrence and Mac would get on, but that's just cos I love 'em both!

I wonder if Terrence had anything to do with Cheese being in Mac's bed at the beginning of Mac Daddy. I wonder if the night before, Terrence saw Cheese wandering outside the apartment and thought the idea of Mac having a second IF would destroy his relationship with Bloo so he brought Cheese inside and placed him in Mac's bed while Mac was asleep.

Or is Terrence that smart?
