Alright, i assume y'all know the major-general song from Pirates of Penzance, yes? well, i made a satirical one about Communism! Great success!

?Marxist-Proletarian Song?

I am the very model of a Marxist-Proletarian,
I?ve information Leftist, Maoist, and Guevarian,
I know the very brand of Trotsky?s eyeglass spectacles,
And can correct the paper in matters dialectical.
I know the executions in Bolivia of ?67,
And I scoff at preconceptions of Hell, Limbo, and Heaven.
About the Revolution I?m teeming with a lot of news,
With reassuring facts about the treatment of our native Jews.
I posses great skill at organizing labor strikes,
I know the proper methods to sabotage old Holland?s dikes.
In short, in matters Leftist, Maoist, and Guevarian,
I am the very model of a Marxist-Proletarian.
I heard the tales of the storming of the Palace Winter,
I answer questions all about the Bolshie-Menshie splinter.
I quote with earnest all the works of Karl Marx,
And when in Colombia I support the fighting FARC?s
I can tell a Country Joe from the lyrics of Miss Joan Baez,
And I know in Volunteers everything that Marty says.
Then I can grab my guitar and strum us up some Bob Dylan,
And recall a sung lament of the Eastern Front?s red killin?!
I can tell you every detail of the Khmer Saloth Sarr,
And relay the tales of Uncle Ho in the Orient afar:
In short in matters Leftist, Maoist, and Guevarian,
I am the very model of a Marxist Proletarian.
In fact when I can build a proper Molotov,
When I can tell at sight the Enfield from Kalashnikov,
When such affairs as ambush tactics I?m more wary at,
And when I know precisely what is meant by ?proletariat,?
When I have learnt the innards of a shoulder-fired Stinger,
When I know more of stitches than a CEO at Singer,
In short, when I?ve clocked hours in the Ministry of Agitprop,
You?ll say a better Communist never made it to the top.
For though in fields sociopolitical we never do it right,
We?ve given pig-dogs from Tijuana to Tibet a fight,
But still in matters Leftist, Maoist, and Guevarian,
I am the very model of a Marxist-Proletarian.

well? Funny or wierd?

Classic C20 novel about totalitarian socialism by Arthur Koestler (before he went mad). Kind of similar ideas to 1984. The author personally knew politburo members liquidated in Stalin's purges and was himself held under sentence of death in Franco's Spain during the civil war. Although he went pretty much insane afterwards, and started believing all sorts of odd things, Arthur Koestler was one of the first writers to draw attention to the unfolding genocide of the Jews and Romany in the early years of WW2.

Now that's just weird

About 2 hours ago on the chat I asked ORD and CG whether they had seen Zardoz. Maybe is the Wizard of Oz stuff that got us thinking like that. Well it was for me.

Good innit.

LOL yeh that's the funniest thing ever.

However the very end of the movie, the last thing you see, is real deep I always thought.

That's brilliant! I definetely would have never been able to do something like that myself.

Didn't the Animaniacs spoof the same song with "I am the very model of a cartoon individual"? 8D

oh probably. I had to print the lyrics off and i went to Wikipedia. They have a link to a bunch of different parodies of that song.

The message of that movie is really beautiful, i can't get enough of Zardoz. Most people laugh at it but it was written while the director was very very insightful (await further transmissions) and the symbolism is thick as...thick stuff, something thick like the earths crust or really thick frosting. Anyway, great flick!
