You guessed it, there's going to be a Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends float (sponsored by Cartoon Network) in the 2006 Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade. the event airs on your local NBC station (except in Detroit for some odd reason) on November 23rd at 9 AM local time.

I was pretty happy about this news, until I realized that the NBC affiliate I get on my cable is the Detroit affiliate. :wiltshock:

Someone should record the Foster's float, for those that are unable to view it. I knew that this show would eventually get its own float for the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Sure I'll record it. But I won't watch it while its recording, I'll just scan through it on tape later, because I frikkin hate the stupid Macy's parade. :P (lol)

I don't watch as much of the parade as I used to, but that's because I haven't really been up long enough to see it. And why in the world would Detroit not air it? Do people hate the parade over there? :wiltshock:

I always watch the parade, I'll egarly await this one! I still hate CN for airing the movie that day.

In my family, we watch the parade as we set up and cook for the huge Thanksgiving dinner at my aunts.

But of course, I shall be even more glued to the TV, like I was for the Emmys.

Me: "Hey Mama, I'm just going to wait for-"

Mama: "Yes, Rosemary, you'll wait to see if Foster's wins and then go to bed. You've told me six times."

Except it'll be more like this:

Me: "Ooh, I can't wait for the-"

Mama:"-Foster's float and the Charlie Brown balloon."

The Charlie Brown balloon has always been my favorite.

Ditto. *IF* I tune in, also. I've actually never much minded the Macy's TDP (too lazy to spell the whole thing out). I just abhor getting up early. Unless the house is burning down, I'm not getting out of bed before 11.

Eh, you're right... Je suis d'accord, as I'd say in French- I agree.

But still- there's nothing like the thrill of knowing that you watched the premiere of it... Something's cool about it.

Haha I was just thinking how cool it would be to have a Foster's float in a parade (our parades here are pretty pants). I'll check it out if anyone's nice enough to record it. ;)

Guess I'll have to tape it. I go to local parade every year down here.

Still, quite cool to have Foster's as part of the Macy's parade.

WDIV, the local NBC affiliate, telecasts the annual Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade (which many old-timers remember as the J. L. Hudson's Thanksgiving Day Parade) instead. There's a word for that. It's called making money.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? Hmm...that sounds pretty cool. If I find the time I'll TRY to tune in...it will definitely be something that shouldn't be missed (I know my mom will see it for a fact-she absolutely LOVES this parade and she even likes Foster's as well, so I think she'll be pleasantly surprised...I'm not going to tell her so it'll be a surprise and when she sees it she'll be like "oh! It's a Foster's float! XD".

I might see it this year. Depends on the crowd and time and place, and since I've heard that it'll be in Detroit, I may be going, because I live near Detroit! YAY!!! I'm lucky to be in Michigan!:D:bloogrin:)

The Macy*s Parade takes place in New York City.

Hey I managed to get a pretty good description from Macy's East of all the new stuff in the parade, and here's what it said about the Foster's float:

"FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS

An imaginary friend is always with you and so are the pals from Cartoon
Network's best-loved hit original series, Foster's Home for Imaginary
Friends. The irrepressible Blooregard Q. Kazoo sails down Broadway in a
30-foot-tall replica of Madame Foster's fun-filled mansion -- home to
imaginary friends who have been outgrown by their creators. Bloo will have
a lot of fun in his Broadway debut as he pops in and out of the mansions
windows and chimney, while Cheese, Wilt, Eduardo, Coco and Herriman take in
the sights. For their big Broadway performance, the cast will sing the
Beatles' classic '"With A Little Help From My Friends.'"

Oh, I might of miss heard it.:P (Or miss read it XD)

Anyways, I'm afraid that I might not go to the parade, because I got a soar throat, but not so bad, but my mom said that it might get worse today or tomorrow.:(

Well, at least the conditions nice, so no thuderstorms or black outs are gonna ruin GWH!:D Just because I'm sick dosn't mean I can't see GWH or hang out at the computer! It's because the illness is small!:) Whew!

I just missed it because I had it on the right channel, but then we switched TVs and the other TV was on a different parade and I didn't even realize. The only float I cared about in that whole stupid parade and I missed it.

Let's see if I can go two for one and miss GWH, too. :frankiemad:

I'm sorry for my grumpiness... I'm very angry because it wasn't really my fault that I missed it.

It'd be great if someone could get at least a picture of it on here. It'd be even better if someone could record and upload it...?

I thought it was cute, and they did a good job with the character.

But I am also VERY disappointed that Frankie is nowhere to be seen, neither in the parade or the how-to-draw ads. It makes me feel left out.

I wasn't dissapointed, but for some reason I was expecting, I don't know just a little more zing or pizzaz to the float.

The cover song was pretty good though.

I'm actually glad they didn't have Frankie. They would have undoubtedly had some struggling Broadway actress who "sort of looked like" Frankie, and it would have just been sad. :P

I actually had uploaded the parade clip to Google video (where I keep my ComicCon panel clip) first, but then remembered it can take a while for them to approve videos on there, that's why I did it on YouTube too. But just in case YouTube decides to axe it, here is the same clip on Google:

Thank you so much Sparky! I knew we could count on you!

I was SO mad this morning when I missed it. My mom called me and asked "Did you see it?!!" and I was like "OMGWTFBBQ WE'RE ON THE WRONG CHANNEL!!" I darted to the remote so quickly that it would have impressed Olympic judges, but I didn't make it in time. You should have seen me... I was angry like the Hulk. 8D

I'm glad I got to see it - it wasn't the most fantastic thing in the history of mankind, but it was really really really cute! :D

Yeah, I also thought it was cute! I was SLIGHTLY disappointed that Frankie and Mac were nowhere to be found, but the truth is that I think it could've went either way if they were brought into the picture. If they had gotten the right costumes and people for them everything would've turned out ok probably, OR they could've gotten the wrong people to dress up as them-it'd be hard to get people that could pull them off well, in my opinion. But overall I liked it. :)

And did you notice there wasn't one Bloo, but FOUR?

Mr. Marshmallow
11-25-2006, 05:19 PM
I have to say I was a little satisfied and a little disappointed at the same time. I think Bloo singing like an idiot and randomly popping out of here and there with his singing was great, as was hearing Wilt singing good this time. I was upset Cheese didn' say jack tho.

While the song was a nice touch and the float was neat to look at, I agree that the dsiappearance of Mac was a STUPID and very hollow move. They could have easily got some people up their in costumes to do Mac and possibly Frankie. Mac is a GIVEN where as Frankie seemed like an iffie.

I'd love to see her up there as much as the next Frankie fan, but due to Mac and Bloo's spot light identities I didn't hold my breath. But I really think this was a very..."plastered" representation of Foster's and felt it could have been more lively and more active. But still, nice to see them getting popular.

DoubleLatte
11-25-2006, 07:34 PM
For being such an energetic show, yeah, the float seemed like a watered-down version of Foster's. Wilt looked odd to me without the ear-to-ear Colgate smile. Maybe they could have made him sing and smile? :3
