I think the topic title pretty much describes the thread. Discuss about the games, the tv shows, etc. I just had to make this topic considering that I'm a hardcore fan of the series.

I've always been a fan. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was a favorite of mine growing up, even though I was among the many who were forever stuck at that Carnival Night Zone barrel puzzle. :-[

I thought the Adventure games were great as well, I have some great memories with them.

Sonic the hedgehog to me is the greatest video icon character of all time, second (in my eyes) only to Mario. I always found Sonic to be a much more cooler, popular, and all around modern icon that could appeal to almost everyone.

I loved his video games and Sonic Adventure would have to be my favorite gane, Sonic 3 is my fav. from the older ones. Spinball was loads of fun minus the annoying difficulty. But I mostly fell in love with the Sonic cartoon shows, starting with "Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog" and evolving into SATam.

Which those of you unfamilar, that is the ABC saturday morning Sonic show which changed my life forever. Featuring a dark bad ass new storyline, new characters like Bunnie Rabbot, Princess Sally, Snively, and Rotor into the mix. And now still running in the form of comic books published by Archie comics.

I've loved that comic series since I was little, and I STILL get them subscribed to my house to this day. My first Sonic comic was bought back in May 1993, and I've never stopped reading them ever since.

I love Sonic. I was never into his 3D games/Cartoons/Comics, but I love his 2D games (The Advance Series and Sonic Rush). Sonic himself makes up for the coolness Mario was lacking.

My favorite character will always be Tails. He just PWNS every other cartoon/video game fox (no offense to Star Fox fans...)

I like Sonic the Hedgehog. My favorite title is Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It was the only one I owend and I played it all the time. I also really enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2.

None taken, I am a huge Star Fox fan and despite the fact he hasn't reached anywhere near the public status of other guys like Donkey Kong and Samus, I still love his games. My brother painfully reminds me of Zelda's success over Fox's.

I know Zelda games do better, I just can't stand Link and that leads to a game confrontation between me and my brother. Sonic I still love over any other game character, Fox is second of course and third would probably be Conker from the magnificent "Conker's Bad Fur day".

But back to Sonic, the only thing that pissed me off about those games was the lack of a save feature. You'd spend hours going through levels in Sonic 2 or 3 and once the boss mode Robotnik uses comes out: back to the beginning for you!

Sonic CD would be my favorite of the series. Probably the best platformer I've ever played.
Smoothly animated, large sprites. Great music.

I like all of the other 2D games, with Triple Trouble being a particular favorite of mine (I'm a Nack the Weasel fan). It's a shame Sega never released a 2D original Sonic game for the Saturn. With that things sprite rendering, the game would have at least looked phenomenal.

On the 3D front, I never could get into the Sonic Adventure games (never really got into 3D platformers). I did enjoy Sonic R on the Saturn, though it is a bit short. Still, it's my favorite 3D Sonic game, unless you count the 3D bonus stage from Sonic CD, which is epic.

I enjoyed the cartoon alright, though it was never a must watch. I did subscribe to the comic book back in 1997-98. Good comic, but I had to spend my money on other things...

The only platform character I may like better than Sonic is Bonk, who never got the credit he deserved for being in an excellent series of platformers.

Too bad you didn't keep track of it longer, Nack has become a recocurring character in the comics. He's played villain to many different roles in the comic. Including ganging up with Snively and a bunch of other comic baddies.

Kidnapping Sally, and the weirdest thing of all, having a sister, Nic the Weasel. (nick nack paddy whack for those of you who missed the joke ;D).

I do remember Nack showing up a few times and always wishing they'd let him do more.

On another note, I must say that the DIC cartoon "Sonic Underground" is probably the only thing Sonic that I can't stand. Sorry, but I had to say it.

Oh man... I LOVED Sonic the Hedgehog so much whenever I was little (I still do!). I never had a Genesis, but I went over to my friend's house all the time to play Sonic games. I watched the cartoon constantly!

It's a little ironic that there's a Sonic thread on here, because Sonic was (seriously) my imaginary friend whenever I was younger. *Blushes* Yeah I know, I'm a dork.

Nack's exploits have listed to mostly stealing stuff from people. The biggest thing he ever did was kidnapping Sally with a bunch of his weasel relatives, almost kill Mina Mongoose when he tried to killl Sally instead.

And of course, team up with his sister every now and then. I actually cosplayed as him at an Anime convention last year and while my outfit was not the greatest I've made, someone did recognize me and that totally made it worth it.

Don't feel bad about your feelings towards "Sonic Underground". Even though I have never seen it, I have heard it was considered the worst sonic toon out of all that have been created. Although, "Sonic X" was no prize either.

The SATam show will always be a "classic toon" in my eyes, that's the first time Sonic got real DARK and had some serious stuff going on his live. Plus, Robotnik was actually evil for a change and not some stupid goofball like in X.

I love Sonic he's awesome I don't really have a favourite game but I do like Sonic adventure 2 battle because I love chao (I've got loads) I love all the cartoons but I think my favourite is Sonic x. Nearly all my gamecube games are sonic games including Sonic DX sonic adventure 2 battle sonic heroes sonic mega collection Shadow the hedgehog (I think he's cool too) sonic gems collection (Tails skypatrol is soooo fun) and sonic riders. (I only got this a couple of weeks ago and I've already completed both stories wasn't easy though)

OK, make that 2 things Sonic that I don't like. I never could get into Sonic X, the poor voicework was more than I could stand. I had forgotten about it... Not sure how, though.

I'd advise you to stay away from Sonic Underground if at all possible. It is apparently about Sonic and his other-colored siblings using musical instruments (guitar, keyboard, drums) to fight Robotnik and his Bebop/Rocksteady wannabe cronies. It's dreadful, absolutely dreadful.

A real shame that Sonic has to be associated with such a terrible show.

Lol, the barrel puzzle was no prob for me.

Anyway. I love STH games - But not the new ones like SA2B and stuff. The platformers on Genesis were better, but one thing was fun:
CHAO. My bro and I (using the same file) have over 30 Chao. Our best one got lost in a Gameboy Transmission due to a whole bunch of turning the GBA off and on, I guess. :(

There is only ONE true voice to Sonic the hedgehog.

And that WILL ALWAYS be Jaleel White. Anytime I see any kind of incarnation, version, or show or book about Sonic, his voice is what comes to mind.

That Urkel kid plays one mean blue skinned hedgehog 8D .

Ricky Fieldmouse

IMO, Jaleel's voice was good... in the cartoons. But imagine what he would sound like in the games. 0_0 The newly designed Sonic that was introduced in SA1 wouldn't suit with Jaleel's voice. He would sound 5 years younger than he already is!

To be honest, I never liked the Sonic Adventure's version of Sonic. They didn't give him much of a personality or any real depth other then the fact he was a thrill seeker and he does the "right thing" while tossing out cheesy, smirking lines.

Even in Sonic X, he was very solitary and you could never read the guy or what he was really like inside. White's voice may not have fit for the games, but he gave a life and an edge to Sonic that the SA versions never could accomplish in a million years.

White's Sonic was more then a cool guy, he was a funny, serious, prank pulling, teenager or more accurately a BELIEVABLE teenager.

He would say stuff like "I'm waaaaaiting" and like that, that gave him an edge, a real personality and not some cliche teen hero crap. Sonic Adventure has a habit of producing stiff and poorly worded characters out of the Sonic crew.

Dr. Robotnik (I refuse to call him Eggman, it just sounds too corny) and Shadow sport some of the worst treatments. Robotink in SA is cheap, stupid, goofy, and barely what I call evil. I've seen ants with more evil in their bodies then this guy.

Shadow is by far the coolest "looking" character, but his personality is as dry as his dialouge. He's a dead stick in the mud and he really has little to offer under the surface. The only character I think they did best in SA is Rouge the bat.

If you waited 3 minutes straight in Sonic CD without doing anything, Sonic will get all pissed off, say "I'm outta here!", give you a nasty look and end the game.

That was seriously funny.

OMG. I would test that out on Sonic Gems Collection if the GCN didn't almost blow up. There's the Wii coming, so we're not buying a GCN anymore...
I'll test it out for sure. 'I'm outta here'.

I agree. Sonic really is much cooler than most of the videogame icons from the time the Sonic franchise first made it big (early to mid 90's, I think) and even today and the only one that is probably a bigger vg icon is Mario, in my opinion. The original Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Sega Genesis are my ultimate favorite games from the series-I have a lot of good memories of them, especially when I used to play them over at my cousin's house when I was around 7 or 8. Great times, great times. ;)

I remember the old cartoon that came out in the early to mid 90's, too. Those are some good memories as well. ;)

Those who are planning to get SONIC 06 for PS3 are going to have to wait a while longer. SONIC 06 won't be available in time for the PS3's launch.
