Please do not post "back-to-back" - if you have something else to say and it's been less than 15-20 minutes and no one has responded to your last post, please just EDIT your last post instead of posting again. Read the forum rules again please.

Also I am moving this to the Characters section, just to tidy the board up a bit.

It's cool, and a common mistake. But please try to just edit posts if its only been a few minutes and again, if no one has replied yet.

As to the topic...You really didn't give enough choices so I can't vote in this one. I neither love nor abhor Cheese. I DO think he's funny, but I've rather had enough of him already. Though to be fair, I like him better than Goo, who has become not just an oft-repeated character like Cheese, but rather an actual staple.

No offense to people who like Goo - I didn't say I think she's a *bad* character, I'm just tired of her. Remember, *my* favorite character is Terrence, and a lot of people not only dislike him but would like to see him destroyed in a fiery explosion of some sort. But then, I think they use Terrence just the right amount currently. I do NOT want to see him start showing up in every episode. If he did, I just may change my mind.

Also, do review the rules of the forum, so you do not do the stuff that could get you into bigger trouble.

Cheese isn't a favourite of mine, but he's certainly something. Too much of him, I don't think I can deal with that. :P I do like him better than Goo, myself.

I've abstained from voting in the poll. I think he can be very funny, but I can't in all honesty say that I "can't get enough of him". The truth is, I've had a little more than I can genuinely handle of him for the time being.

He was great in "Mac Daddy" and his cameo in "Infernal Slumber" wasn't bad. But "The Big Cheese", even though he did have some hilarious moments, showed that he can lose his charm when exposed so much. In my opinion, that episode would've been a complete disaster if it weren't for Frankie's many reactions and antics, which I found incredibly adorable and showed just how diverse her character is.

But that's just what I think. I ain't trying to discourage you. If Cheese is what you love, then dig in.

I didn't vote either due to the lack of choices. I liked Cheese in Mac Daddy and Infernal Slumber, but his appearance in The Big Cheese was too much. It didn't help Cartoon Network kind of made him their official mascot throughout the summer. =/

Cheese was hilarious in Mac Daddy, and okay in Infernal Slumber, but honestly I think his first appearance should have been his only appearance, like Goo. It's easy to make a character like him annoying, and to some people he already was, but now they use him all the time.

Of course he would think his death would of been the most awesome death ever! 8D

I agree with Voxyn about "The Big Cheese" the episode is only in my top 19 fave because of Frankie & Cheese's duo. If it wasn't for her Cheese wouldn't of have some of his best moments in it. "Candy! *Licks lips*" or "I like this game! *banging head*". Well besides " I...FOUND....A....CARROT!". It would of had no plot, just Cheese outside he knows a code, he annoys. Frankie was the one who had all of the games & songs & gave it a plot.

I think it was a tie between Cheese & fre Fredburger as their offical mascot(s).

Anyways, I love Cheese.:cheese:

Like many of the others, I'm really fairly neutral about Cheese. However, I didn't really care for him at all in "Mac Daddy", but I thought he was great in "Infernal Slumber" and I've never gotten to see "The Big Picture".

It really disappointed me how he was used in "The Big Cheese", though, as "Infernal Slumber" gave me some hope that I'd be able to find him entertaining. Though I guess that isn't all too much a surprise it didn't happen as, in all honesty, I think "The Big Cheese" was kind of the disappointment of the season. It could have been a great episode, but they just didn't seem to take other possibly routes that could have worked.

And now I'm babbling and off topic. :gooblab:

I don't really like cheese. I don't care about him. He was sorta funny in Mac Daddy, but appearantly he's getting max overused now and gets boring for me.
(Something bothered me btw: on wikiquote's foster's page, at "Cheese" it's like every single line he says gets quoted. -_-)

OK, not to be meant offensive... but that yelling (allcaps) and smileys (:cheese::cheese::cheese::cheese:...) were annoying.

Eh...

Cheese is okay. I thought he was cool in Mac Daddy, and then later, when he snuck up on us in Infernal Slumber, I cracked up.

However, I think the Big Cheese was a little much.

As for Goo, I love her to death. But... I DID NOT like her in the Big Cheese. At all. To me, the only episodes that I REALLY loved her in were her first appearance and Internal Slumber, and barely even that.

Eh.

Cheese is funny. But he works best as a background character. I loved him (and many agree) in Infernal Slumber, he was great! But, I think we've pinpointed the formula for a bad Cheese episode, The Big Cheese. From the look of the forums, everyone dislikes that episode to some degree due to overexposing Cheese. I think there's a lesson in this. Every character works well in different ways. Mac works well as a main character, so does Eduardo. Bloo can be a main or side character with equal style. But Cheese is just perfect as a side character. As a main, he kinda stinks. Well, he always stinks, but I mean metaphorically. Nonetheless, he gives some of the best lines. Anyone seen the Japaneese version of Mac Daddy? "Chokoreto Miroku Daisuke!"

When I first saw Cheese in CN's commercials I thought "oh holy crap this character looks as annoying as HECK." The first ep I saw with him in it, not counting The Big Picture, was Infernal Slumber, and I actually thought he was pretty funny in that ep. Then I saw The Big Cheese... which... I really didn't like. Then I saw Cheese-A-Go-Go and wanted to SHOOT HIM in that ep 'cuz he gave me the worst headache EVER. Then finally I saw him in Mac Daddy and thought he was okay.

I don't absolutely hate him but I hope they never use him as the main focus for an ep again like in Cheese-A-Go-Go (if that counts) or The Big Cheese. He was perfect in Infernal Slumber.

...Though I don't like him a ton I find myself quoting him a lot. XD; (Mostly "doitagaoindoitagaindoitagain" and "I LIIIIIIKE this game!" and "nothergamenothergamenothergamenothergame" when I feel like yelling something random. XP)

BTW, Ub3rD4n, where did you see Foster's in Japanese...?

I like Cheese, but I think I can get enough of him at some point. I know I've mentioned this before, but I loved Cheese when he first appeared. "Mac Daddy" was one of the best episodes imo, and I know most here agree. His cameo in "The Big Picture" was trivial but I remember first seeing it and yelling "Hey! There's Cheese again! Yay!" I too loved him in "Infernal Slumber", as he actually helped get Terrence back to bed (and I loved it when he clings to his face and says "Quiet doggy!", lol). And also the part when he sucks his whole face in while drinking Coco's smoothie, it was...different. 8D But then "The Big Cheese" came, and he was annoying the living daylights out of me. Sure, some of his lines in that eppie are some of my favorites ("I like fishy crackers!" "Can I have some fishy crackers?" "I LIKE the fair!" "This candy is broken!" "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!" And then of course his list of ailments at the end). But it was "Cheese a Go-Go" that broke the camels back, and he's really starting to annoy me now. The fact that the S2 DVD features Cheese as much as it does sure didn't help. I agree with what's been said earlier, overexposure to Cheese isn't a good thing. He's best only as a secondary character, and the Foster's crew should be very, very careful if thinking of making an episode focusing entirely around Cheese again. I personally would love to see Cheese again, maybe even for the entire length of an episode, as long as he's not the center of the show. :scaryberry:

See, I didn't think Cheese was annoying in Cheese A-Go-Go. Sure, he was irritating to Frankie, but so was just about everyone else that episode. He wasn't the sole focus of the episode (as opposed to, say, Mac Daddy or The Big Cheese) so he didn't annoy me that time round. I loved Cheese A-Go-Go.

Oh, and as to where I saw Fosters in Japaneese, it was on Youtube a while back, before they chucked it due to copyright issues. Shame.

Eh, Cheese is ok. I thought he was absolutely cute and hilarious in "Mac Daddy" and "Infernal Slumber", but I could barely tolerate him in "The Big Cheese" and as for "Cheese A-Go-Go"...yeah, don't EVEN get me started on THAT one again. XP

I just think that he works better as a background character...or maybe even a one-time gag character, but making him a main character just leads to disaster. Besides, with great characters like Bloo, Mac, Wilt, Eduardo and Frankie (many others as well) I don't really see a need to make Cheese a main character in the first place. It just...wasn't the way he was originally designed, I think. He just becomes too annoying when he's cast as a major character sometimes.

Story-wise, we never strive to use Cheese as a "main character" or a "background character." Essentially, he's an antagonist. Mac Daddy was about Bloo (the protagonist) trying to, in a sense, defeat Cheese (the antagonist) by getting rid of him. Cheese consistently thwarted Bloo by always returning. In Big Cheese, Frankie was the protagonist, as well as in Cheese-a-Go-Go.

So in actuality, as far as character goes, Cheese serves more as a villain than anything else--- just not an intentionally evil one.

Don't know if that makes a difference for anyone.

Huh. I just saw him as the proverbial monkey wrench in the secondary cast. The epitome of Chaotic Neutrality, to take a page out of the D&D lexicon. Yes folks, I am such a nerd.

Really though, even though he causes trouble at times, sometimes he can help things, like when he muzzled Terrence who was about to get everyone busted in "Infernal Slumber".

Antagonist doesn't necessarily equal evil. The antagonist is just the one who keeps the protagonist from achieving their goal, whether intentional or not. In Infernal Slumber, Mac was the protagonist and the whole rest of the cast served as antagononists!! He wanted it quiet, and they wouldn't shut up!

They just all (unwittingly) switched sides when Terrance showed up.

Thank you for pointing that out, Lauren! I think to a lot of folks, "antagonist" equals "evil" or "mean" or "bad", but that clearly is not necessarily the case! I, for one, have come to the understanding that very, very few people(or characters)are totally evil or good, but fall somewhere in between, and depending on their circumstances, can go one way or the other. To paraphrase the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., there's evil in the best of people, and good in the worst of people. Even Mac finally resorted to cheating in "Race For Your Lives, Mac and Bloo", because he was that desperate not to let Bloo win, and Wilt revealed a sneaky, devious side in "Pranks For Nothing", to show up Bloo and get back at him for his behavior in the hotel room when Wilt was trying to get some sleep, resulting in the BEST ending to a Foster's episode EVER, I might add, lol! That is one of the great things about this series-characters have different sides to them, and aren't always "locked in" to behaving in certain ways, but can pull surprises now and then. Cheese is just...well, Cheese, and he's more like a little toddler or an animal, in that he's not really capable of making behavioral choices based on moral or ethical decisions. He just does whatever pops into his mind, whatever comes naturally. He's like the angler fish in Finding Nemo, not evil, but just doing what he's more or less hard-wired to do. It's just unfortunate for the others that Cheese's natural behavior often is counterproductive to what THEY want to do.
