Someone has to start this thread; may as well be me. ;)

This thread is the same as the Con thread we had last year; those of us attending will be posting about what we see and do, the people we meet, and all that other good stuff, and everyone else is invited to comment on whatever we report. As I said, same as last year, so expect a few restaurant reviews along with everything else. I plan on being thirty pounds heavier when I get home. :bloocross:

At present I'm finishing up my packing and will soon be calling a cab to the airport. There hasn't been much on my end to tell you about, really; I made arrangements, I packed, and I lugged a gallon jar filled with a year's worth of spare change to the bank. By the stars that thing was heavy. The bank's coin return machine was broken so I ended up having to travel several miles in search of another branch with a machine that worked. That was the extent of my day.

For those interested, I'm bringing my copy of Destination Imagination, in case anyone wants to watch the next Emmy winner again, and of course my Frankie plushie is coming along, too. Can't go to the Con without her. My flight leaves in three hours so I'll be logging off shortly; I should be back in around ten hours or so. See you then.

I was thinking about starting it, but felt kind of weird doing so since I've never actually been there before.

I'm not going to be there for the whole week, just for the weekend. I arrive Saturday around 1, and leave early Monday afternoon.

For those interested, the TV station G4 will be airing five hours of live coverage of the Con on Saturday starting at 2pm. Included in this will be the entire Star Wars Spectacular panel. I'm sure some will be grateful to see that.

CN isn't even having a booth this year, which is a real bummer. But there are a few panels and signings.

Panels-

Thursday- CARTOON NETWORK COMEDY – ORIGINAL ANIMATION
Including some of the voice actors from Chowder (including Tara) and Flapjack
Friday- WB PANEL: BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
Friday- LUCASFILM PANEL: Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Building the Universe
Friday- LUCASFILM PANEL: Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Behind the mic
Friday- LUCASFILM PANEL: The Star Wars Spectacular (to be aired on G4 on Sat)
Saturday- CARTOON NETWORK ACTION ADVENTURE ANIMATION: BEN 10
Sunday- MATTEL PANEL: Hot Wheels Battle Force 5
Sunday- WB PANEL: Zoinks! Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins

And signings-

Chowder: C.H. Greenblatt, Tara Strong, Dana Snyder
The Misadventures of Flapjack: Thurop Van Orman, Steve Little
Saturday, July 25
2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Ben 10 Alien Force Signing – Autograph Alley

Sunday, July 26
10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins Signing – WB Booth
Robbie Amell (Fred), Kate Melton (Daphne), Hayley Kiyoko (Velma), Nick Palatas (Shaggy)

And as we know, Lauren and Craig will be there at the Galaxy Girl's booth, and on Saturday (time yet to be determined) they will also be giving autographs and doing sketches of the GGs, Foster's, PPGs and Wander over Yonder for their fans.

And this is only the CN related stuff, there's a LOT more going on that's not related to CN, so just to give you guys an idea of what kind of stuff goes down there, here's a bit of a taste, if you will. :)

For those leaving now or soon, have a safe trip down there. I'll see you guys in five days. ;)

Have a great trip everyone, take plenty of snapshots people. (Like I need to remind you, Cass ;) )

Oh and take care if anyone makes to the Futurama panel especially if this rumor turns out to be true...

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ibdf529f18374f6c965f140dbc42e7419

(Short version to anyone who doesn't have time to read it, 20'th Century Fox might be replacing the entire voice cast when the show returns to TV. :wiltshock: )

If it is, there might be a full scale riot on their hands.

And nothing ruins a good time like "Nerd Rage", unless it happens to be on a youtube video then it's funny. :D

I arrived about a half-hour ago. There were a few delays due to weather conditions but otherwise the journey went remarkably well. I even got a bonus in the seating, that being that whoever was supposed to have the seat next to me never showed up. Elbow room is a precious commodity on a plane. ;D It's 12:15 PM Pacific time here but my stomach thinks it's 3:00 PM so I'll be seeking lunch pretty soon.

I arrived in San Diego just a little more than an hour ago. I'm in my hotel room right now, and I'm staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. The only problem I had was accessing the wrong elevator. 8D They're a bit tricky here. One set of elevators take you to specific floors, and another will have the other floors. I chose the one that didn't have the 28th floor. Go, me! :P Anyway, things are good. I'm going to be stepping out and do a bit of shopping and maybe bowling, and I look forward to seeing the others soon. ;)

We got here a little while ago after a 9-hour drive (we beat our time last year by about an hour by leaving earlier). The room's already better at this Howard Johnson than those at the Marriott. :jk: By the way, best thing we saw on the way down from Sacramento to San Diego was a rest home with a big sign on it facing the freeway that said "Visit us and try our home-baked cookies!"

...has anyone seen Grandma? :wiltshock:

I've done nothing so far other than buy a sandwich at a nearby deli and take a badly needed nap. By the time I fell asleep I'd been awake for around 32 hours or so. :herrsleep:

Seems that Exy, my favorite restaurant from last year, didn't survive the bad economy. Disappointing, but not too unexpected; they were a new place and didn't have time to build up much of a customer base. Eh, I'll find other places to dine; stars know there are plenty to choose from.

I'm.....

....Still in Seattle!!! :P As I already said, I'm arriving on Saturday. I'll be the last one to arrive, but at least I catch the grand finales of Sat night and Sunday I suppose.

I hope there's some good pictures uploaded for you guys before the event is over. I learned a few days ago that the device used to transfer pictures from a media card to the computer I'm taking doesn't take the size of card my camera takes. So I'll not be uploading any pics until I get back home on Monday night or Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have some decent shots taken with my camera phone, though. I'm really hoping to be able to share something right away with my family and friends.

Here's a photo to get y'all started. We always stop at "Pea Soup Andersen's (http://www.peasoupandersens.net/)" in Santa Nella on the way to San Diego and back. This time, we were lucky to get this photo before having to escape with our lives as one of the chefs chased us down the street with a mallet. Seems Terrence poured split peas down all the toilets in both the mens' and womens' restrooms. That boy...

Even though I am not attending the Con, myself, I am still thrilled to hear all the news!! Especially about Tom Kenny (duh, fangirl much)!

As some of you might know, my friend is going to give him the Shakes the Clown comic I've made :p

SO if anyone sees Tom, ask him if he's seen Shakes yet XD

I haven't been awake long enough to do much of anyting yet today, other than get an exciting pic of a UPS delivery truck. :bloocross: I'm planning on meeting with Sparky around 2:00 PM and later we'll all be off to register. No one gets into the Convention Center without registering so it's kind of critical. First, however, I need to find a computer with a printer so I can print out the registration form; I think I can do that at the Marriott but not here. Comfort Inn Gaslamp is a good hotel but it does lack a few things. The air conditioner works very well, thankfully; thus far it's been hotter and more humid than last year. :P

Well, let's see...

I got together with Sparky and Government Man for lunch around 2:00 PM at the Edgewater Grill (http://www.edgewatergrill.com/), a very nice restaurant that we had our farewell dinner at back in 2007. Also present was Iceberg210, whom I hadn't met before and didn't know he'd be at the Con; very nice to meet you, dude. ORD arrived soon thereafter. Sparky and I got the seafood crepes; I don't recall what everyone else got but we all ate well. After lunch we poked around a couple of the Seaport Village shops, bought nothing, and then it was off to the Convention Center for registration. That part never seems to take very long for some reason. After we got our badges, ORD took off to do ORD stuff, and the rest of us unceremoniously left Sparky on a bench at the Center and went to hang around the pool at the Marriott, where none of us are guests. In short, we were hotel crashers. 8D Eventually we went back to the Convention Center and, after a long tour around the building, we caught up with Sparky and ORD and waited patiently in a long line in a not-air-conditioned area for the Con itself to open. Eventually it did, and we went down to the Exhibition Hall and headed straight for Lauren's booth. The place was already packed; as I understand it, it's going to get a lot worse as the week wears on. That, plus the high heat, makes me want to stay in my hotel room and visit nothing but nice quiet restaurants, but you know I won't. I'll be there everyday until the Con is over or I pass out, whichever comes first, gathering pics all along the way. Anyway, we stayed at Lauren's booth for some time, and we did learn what her upcoming announcement will be; I'm not posting it because I'm honestly not sure if I should. But it will be officially announced sometime tommorrow; I think y'all will be excited about it. Sparky's Terrence plushie was a big hit; expect a pic of him at the booth very soon. After awhile we left and wandered off to do our own things, mostly shopping-related; there's a lot of goodies to be had at the Con, although I never seem to buy much. I looked around briefly and was about to head for the nearest exit when I spotted a booth with Doctor Who toys. Good ones, too, imported from England (made in China :bloocross:), and, well, I've been wanting a remote-controlled Dalek for longer than I care to remember. Now I have one. Oh, but there's more to this part of the story. You see, Doctor Who has always been one of my favorite shows; in fact, I enjoyed it so much that it became one of only two shows that I ever wrote fanfics about (the other is Foster's). I watched every episode that the local PBS stations aired, forgoing such things as family outings and sometimes putting off meals until the show was over. Stars, I loved that show. So you can imagine what an honor it was for me to meet and shake the hand of Colin Baker, the sixth actor to play the role of the Doctor. Much older now than when his episodes first aired but still recognizable, still with his original wit and slightly wry sense of humor, still the 6th Doctor that I remember. And I'll be remembering this meeting for a very long time. :)

Looks like Comic-Con 2009 is off to a great start. ;D

http://www.fosters-home.com/terrence/images/laurencraigterr.jpg

I also videotaped Lauren giving her great news about the Galaxy Girls but will hold off in posting it so she can break the news herself on her blog.

And now for my adventure...

I planned to buy a film replica from Full Moon Features' booth, so I went there. I asked if they had it, yes they did, I stupidly blurted out I WANT ONE so I started preparing to buy it, they were boxing it up, and then I got cold feet because it's kind of expensive and I remembered that I wanted to wait until I guy I know from a Full Moon forum came by and I could ask him his expert opinion on if it was worth that much money, so I asked them to wait and I'd come back the next day. I felt like a heel doing that to them. :P So I slunk off and came to the decision to buy it anyways, but they had said they'd prefer cash so I thought it would make it up to them to bring cash this time. I went to the convention center atms and took out one amount because it was the max they allowed, and then just tried to do a separate transaction for the rest. But no, it wouldn't go through. Checking my account showed I had enough but three separate tries yielded nothing. So I went back to the booth and - there was that guy I know, like magic. He agreed we should each buy one. The booth took the cash I had and did the rest on my credit card. Then I get back here and check my email and there's a message from my bank about unauthorised access on my card and I have to call them which I did and cleared everything up and now my card is unlocked again. :P

And that was my adventure. :jk:

It was definitely an excellent start to the 2009 Comic-Con International. I got up at 8:45am from my bed (though I kinda woke up many times, as early as a bit after 6am). I went to Starbucks. I had the cafe vanilla frappuccino. I then went to Westfield Horton Plaza, went to Ritz Camera, picked up a second camcorder battery. Paid less than $80 for it. I needed it, because I'm going to be using my one battery quickly. I picked up a belt from Macy's. Then I took the trolley all the way to San Diego State University at the Aztec Center and bowled three games. I didn't do as well at my max this year. I only got 85 or something like that, compared to around 140 this year. Then, I went to Mission Valley to find a charger for my digital camera battery. I did get it. I hurried all the way back to Downtown to Seaport Village, and I met up with the NF gang, and got to meet Iceberg210. We went to some hat place to look at hats, and that was all for SV. I had to take a short break and get my confirmation for Comic-Con before going to the Convention Center. Before going up, someone said something stupid about the escalator, and then all of a sudden, it stopped (did we get jinxed? :P). We had to walk up with the escalator not moving. Picked up badge fairly quickly, waited in line for over an hour, got in the Exhibit Hall. I met up with Lauren and Craig, and I also got to see Khaki Jones and met her husband. We talked for a bit, and then we separated for the rest of the evening. I got to meet one friend (who's in the Artist Gallery/Table area)...which I haven't seen in over three years, got to meet one artist that I watch on deviantART, and finally got to meet a friend from Las Vegas (befriended her on MySpace 3 years ago). After that, I went to eat pizza somewhere in the Gaslamp Quarter area. Then, I came back to my place. Fantastic start to this con. :smed:

Dinner last night was at Croce's Restaurant (http://www.croces.com/croces.shtml), owned and operated by Ingrid Croce, wife of the late singer Jim Croce. French onion soup, New York sirloin with gouda mashed potatoes and asparagus, topped with a mushroom ragout, and creme brulee for dessert. I left very full and quite happy. Excellent staff there as well, a nice mix of joviality and professionalism. I'd definitely go back but I've got too many other places to try. ;D

GM wanted to hit a panel held in the biggest hall so we left early because we have to take a bus and a trolley to get there, and then the line was too long. We separated but I eventually headed back to the hotel. I *might* got to the CN panel (Flapjack, Chowder, and Adventure Time) later this afternoon but I don't know yet, I may skip it. I have no further plans today. Which is good because my feet are in a lot of pain. :P Maybe I'll play Fusionfall, the summer expansion pack has launched.

You'll get here, no problem. Rest easy; the wait is almost over.

I'm feeling a little ill as well, although for a different reason entirely. Not because of the heat; I expected that, and I'm tolerating it fairly well. Not because of my diet, either, which I'm enjoying immensely. No, the problem is that the nearby Palace Theater is apparently playing a revival of Twilight later this evening and for the past several hours the area has been crawling with literally thousands of screaming, squeeing Twilight Fangirls. The vacuousness in that line, stretching around two blocks now, is almost palpable. The police have the area cordoned off; there are barracades keeping the little darlings from spilling out into the street; the owner of the deli I frequent would very much like them to stop talking, buy their drinks, and get out. The lady manning the front desk here rolled her eyes when I mentioned the scene outside. All this over a vampire movie?? Iv'e seen worse groups but only barely, and certainly not this large. I weep for the decline and fall of American culture. :P

Lol this morning I was passing the line for Hall H and saw the "No Twilight Zone" group standing there immediately followed by another group advertising that they're "Not Your Momma's Twilight Community" or somesuch thing. I wonder if there's ever any fights between groups like that. Or even two PRO-Twilight groups.

Hey, folks. ORD here. The day started off slightly disappointing. I didn't get to see the Disney 3D event, and I also missed the ticket giveaway for the Chowder autographs. Anyway, I got to meet Doug TenNapel (created Earthworm Jim). The dude is definitely tall. :wiltshock: lol Nice person, though. Then, I went to attempt to see the Robot Chicken panel, and I failed easily. I ran into cartman briefly (he's now staying with me), and then I ran into Khaki Jones again, as well as her husband Jeff Adams, some other people that were involved with CN, and Craig himself. We all got in for the Chowder/The Misadventures of Flapjack/Adventure Time with Finn and Jake panel. I got to speak with Carl (C.H.) Greenblatt again. Despite Chowder ending, he had a good attitude about it and enjoyed the series' run. I also got to see Tara Strong. :) I did later on meet Dana Snyder. I also ran into Lori (some of us remember Lori from Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank and worked on the CN booth in 2006 and 2007). The panel was an absolute blast. I liked what I saw of the drawings and storyboards from Adventure Time. After that, I wondered around the Exhibit Hall and I said hello to Lauren. Other than that, that was it. I really enjoyed the first full day of Comic-Con. :)

Yeah at least try and make to WCE, after all you would hate to be left wondering how much more Jerry Sales or Romi can redefine the term "Useless Sidekick" or what kind of unnatural ways Mighty Mister Titan will be contorting his body in the name of good health this time around.

I was lucky enough to spend a bunch more time with GM again today, and we were able to make the Cartoon Network Comedy panel which was quite fun and interesting. I'm now particularly excited for a new series called Adventure Time I believe, as it seems insane, nutty and just all and all fun.

Afterward I went to the John K panel which was a riot! John K was just very funny and random, and just great, the panel highlight was when John literally pitched a new cartoon storyboard in practice for when he's going to be pitching it next week to Adult Swim.

It was hilariously funny and seeing someone so excited about his work was really cool.

Overall great day and I"m real excited about tomorrow.

Which Tom K.? In this case, it doesn't matter, because both Kane and Kenny are here for this year's Comic-Con.

Anyway, it was a really long Friday. I ran into Carl Greenblatt and Thurop Van Orman at my hotel's lobby. Got one photo taken. I went to two different Clone Wars panels, and I got to meet Dee Bradley Baker, and I saw Tom Kane again. It was a lot of fun. Spoke to Lori from CN (btw, Sparky, she wanted me to tell you that she said hi to you); she was doing portfolio reviews at Sails Pavilion. I met another friend earlier for the first time in person (she's from Sweden). Went to a TMNT panel. At the end, Ernie Reyes, Jr. made a surprise visit (for those familiar with the live-action films, he was Keno in TMNT2 in the 90s). Went to Lauren's booth, asked how things were going, and Tammy List was there (she's still working for CN). You might see Tammy helping Lauren out at the booth. At the end, I went to another panel (the SW Fan Film Awards). For those that went to WCE, sorry that I missed it (hated to choose between two events I liked). I hope it was great. I ate after the panel, and had Ghiradelli's (didn't drop any ice cream this time). That was pretty much it for Day 2. Day 3 may be the most difficult day for me to choose what I'll be doing that day. Wish me well. :P

Rocket Rod I'd heard of--it was Filmation's very first TV effort. But Dick Digit and Harry Happy are enigmas to me.

Yay, I finally have something to add today!

My plane landed about five minutes late, no biggie, got in my very first cab ever and rode to my hotel. Check in was a breeze. So the whole plane/airport/transportation thing went great. The last I had heard was Cass and Howard were suppose to meet me at my hotel and we were suppose to head over to the convention center together, so I waited in the lobby for about 30 minutes, then went back to my room to log on and see if there were any messages for me and wait to see if they'd just call me (I didn't have their numbers, so there was little more I could do). So I was totally confused and wasn't sure what to do. Turns out they went to the airport hoping to surprise me by picking me up there. And we totally missed eachother since I wasn't expecting to see them there. Howard finally called me (so he was the first to hear my voice! ^_^), and it turned out easier if I just headed over to the convention center myself. So I did. I hopped the trolley that said "To Convention Center", and ended up riding it WAAAYYYY past where I should have gotten off because apparently there's a transfer station. ::) So I finally realized this, got off and hopped the other one coming in the opposite direction. That time I made it to the CC. Picked up my badge, which wasn't near as big a pain as I thought it might be giving there was virtually no line at all. And wandered through the exhibit hall aimlessly for an hour or so. Took a few pictures, but not much, as I was much too tired and dehydrated to concentrate much on that. I stopped by Lauren's booth (neither her nor Craig were there at the moment), and the guy behind it complimented me on my t-shirt because I was wearing my Venus shirt today. I did however pass by Craig as I was wandering through the crowd. Didn't say anything to him as he has no idea who I am, but I was stoked to see him. Anyway, I got tired of being lost, so I texted Ord, and finally found him, GM and Iceberg having pictures taken with the Bloo costume outside the exhibit hall (Ord was the first person to see me! ^_^). I got to see the costume in person, yay! :yeah: From there we went to Ord's hotel where we met Sparky to drop the costume off and then headed out to meet Cass and Howard to eat. We were getting confused as to how to get to the restaurant; weren't sure which trolley to take, or if we should try walking. Sparky talked a bike taxi driver to drive us. That would be GM, Sparky, Ord, Iceberg and I, all piled into the back of one bicycle taxi. Iceberg didn't want to cause anyone discomfort, so he walked, but that taxi driver was awesome and in great shape, because he pulled the other four of us all those blocks (how many were there? I didn't count) to the restaurant. That was an experience I won't forget. 8D We finally met up with Cass and Howard, who had been holding us a table for some time. Iceberg arrived not long after. We had a great meal, I had a chicken dish with green olives and a red wine sauce, it was delicious! Then we headed over to Ghiradelli's for ice cream. MAN, what a packed place that was! I had a waffle cone with a single scoop of chocolate ice cream. It was heavenly. Then Sparky, GM, Ord, Howard and Iceberg headed off to retrieve the Bloo costume and get back to their hotels because they needed to leave, and I hung out with Cass for the remainder of the evening. We went to his hotel, where he gave me a pic of Mac he had requested Craig draw for me since I missed the sketches and signings today (Thank you Cass!!), and we talked and laughed and giggled much like we do on the boards here. 8D Howard came by briefly to pick something up he had left in Cass' hotel earlier in the day, and he kindly drove me back to my hotel, since he had his own vehicle and knows his way around SD pretty well. I'm very thankful to him for that since I was already so tired, and getting lost at 11 at night in a large city would be a nightmare.

Now I'm in my pjs and comfy and exhausted and still slightly dehydrated I think, but it was all worth it! I can't say how cool it is meeting everyone in person! :)

Well what can I say? I quote Cass, "stars!" The ComiCon was an adventure and a half! In both Cass and myself's case, it was "It's a Mad Mad World," meets "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," meets "Foster's Goes to Europe" all in one. The whole city was insane! Costumed and non-costumed fans all over the place. Parking was horrible, but we took pedal taxis (have a pic). It was the most wonderful experience I have ever had. I needed to get out of Arizona, and this was the way to do it.

My first and most important mission, was to meet Craig and Lauren. I was able to meet Craig in the morning, but Lauren was on the phone. I told him we were picking up another friend at the airport and would be back for signings at 1pm (See Lynnies story about Cass and I trying to meet up with her). Cass and I ran out to the airport to surprise her, with no success. We were cutting it close to signing time, so I illegally dropped Cass off to get sketches done for me and Lynnie. I spent 20 minutes looking for a parking spot which cost $30! I met up with Craig and Lauren finally, and wished her a Happy Birthday. I then had this taken (a little fuzzier than I liked, but good enough):

Some of Lauren's MWGG stuff (congrats on the toy store deals!). NOTE: Craig somehow got in the pic;):

Here is a ped taxi driver. Most of them are students; great way to get around in the city (note Cass trying to get in the pic - he too is so vain):

Later on, we all met up for a wonderful dinner. It was a pleasure meeting with ORD, Sparky, Government Man, Iceburg, Lynnie, and Cass. It was also a pleasure to meet the Frankie and Terrence plushy dolls! They get around geographically more than I do! All of you are great to hang out with. I hope to see many more you at the Con next year!

Con ended for us yesterday, but here we are now in Anaheim. GM and Iceberg are over at Disneyland with a couple other guys from the Rescue Rangers fanforum they're on. I was with them for a while but my body's had it, I can't walk anymore. So I'm back at the hotel, at least for a while. We're here tomorrow, too. Let me look through my camera and see if I have any good photos to post, but I didn't take all that many. Watching a Cronkite special on the hotel TV right now.

It was another great day. Slept until eleven, the best night sleep I've gotten in over a week I think. Bummed around my hotel for an hour or so before I moseyed on down to the trolley station and made my way to the Convention Center. It was nice not having to rush. Ord and I hooked up, and I just followed him around the exhibit hall all day. We saw stuff. I bought two tee shirts from Lauren's booth, but she wasn't there. So we tried back later and both she and Craig were there, so I was delighted to finally meet them. Craig drew me a sketch of Blooregard, so now I have two sketches, yay! I got a pic of myself with them, too. :w00t: I got a Peanuts tee shirt for my mother, and Ord bought some other tee shirts and met up with some other friends, and we didn't leave the exhibit hall until they were closing. Good bye Comic-Con for another year. :'( We took a short trolley ride to Ord's hotel, and it was so stuffed, it was barely even "standing room only", it was amazing how many people can fit into one trolley, lol. We then went to Ord's hotel room where we just chilled for an hour or so before heading to the nearby mall where we were planning on meeting up with Cass for dinner. We ate at a Chinese restaurant called Panda Inn, and it was excellent. I had lemon chicken, which is probably my favorite Chinese dish. Afterward, we moseyed back to the trolley station so we could get back to our hotels. Sadly we were going in opposite directions, so we said our good byes there. I miss you guys!! :'(

So yup, it's all over. I fly back to Seattle tomorrow (Monday) at 2pm. I hope for pleasant and safe travels to Ord and Cass too. And Sparky, GM and Iceburg too for that matter, even though they aren't in SD anymore. They're not "home" yet either.

Oh, and I wore my contacts again, my eyes felt much, much better after a good night's sleep. :)

Day 3: Saturday was extremely crazy. It wasn't bad, but it was all over the place. I met up with one friend I haven't seen in nearly five years. I went to a Marvel panel for an upcoming series to air AMs on CN called "Marvel Super Hero Squad". I met up with other friends. This series features actors, such as Tom Kenny, Charlie Adler, Steve Blum, Grey DeLisle, and a few others. Spoke to Tom Kenny briefly. Tom had to leave early to go to the Sponebob panel (thankfully, it's the next room down (or up?). Stan 'The Man' Lee was at the panel briefly, too. I liked what I saw on the previews. I did get speak to Grey briefly and saw her son (he's growing up). I went to the Cartoon Voices I panel (had Bill Farmer, Chuck McCann, Vanessa Marshall, and a few others). I tried to spot Lauren that day, but each time I went to the booth, I saw Ryan (Lauren's brother) and during the second time around, I saw Tammy List and Ryan. I put on the Bloo costume for a little bit. I was definitely a hit. Got to meet Lynnie and Howard, and the NF group had dinner and had ice cream from Ghiradelli's (no scoop fell to the ground this time). Then, I had to send costume back to Sparky and GM (they left for Anaheim, and they didn't have the box). I said goodbye to those I'd not see for a while. I went to see the second half of the masquerade, and stayed until the results were revealed. Samurai Jack was a big winner for the masquerade this year. During the masquerade party, I saw a Jazz (an Autobot from Transformers) cosplayer bust some dance moves. Not a bad day, though the scheduling was not great.

Finale, Day 4: I went to Lauren's booth, didn't see Lauren or Craig there (it was Tammy and Ryan again). Then, I went to Cartoon Voices II (it had Jess Harnell, Greg Cipes, Gregg Berger, Susan Silo, and Tom Kane). I enjoyed that one more than the first one. I was told from Cipes himself that Teen Titans will be returning for Season 6 in the future. The rest of the day, I mostly just hung out inside the Exhibit Hall. I got to meet someone I haven't seen since 2006, and I got to meet a few people from deviantART. And as you saw, Craig did a Bloppypants sketch for me. Another con attendee requested Lauren to sketch Sedusa from PPG, and she did well on that. I purchased a few shirts (not for me). I also ran into a few more people I saw at the con, and I said farewell to them. Then the con ended. Lynnie and I went back to my hotel room to take a short break. Then, it was time to think about what to eat for dinner. This time, we ate at Panda Inn (located at the Westfield Horton Plaza. We slowly marched our way out of the hotel and said farewell for now. It was tough to leave everyone, but I believe we'll be back.

Anyway, some other notes I wanted to mention on this visit. For those that were wondering if I saw Keith Ferguson this year. Unfortunately, I did not see him (he may have not attended or I missed him). I did briefly chat with one of his closer friends, Melody (Hygena in "Who Wants to Be a Superhero? Season 2), briefly, but she had to speak with someone that was in an awful hurry about something. I didn't wait long to wait until she was done with the other friend, because I was about to go to another panel. That was for Day 3. On Day 4, I ran into Kermit the Frog. Yes, folks, Kermit THE Frog. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! :) I took a short clip of Kermit and Steve Whitmire (the puppeteer that did Kermit). I'll try to post it at some point.

Another year, another con. It was a blast. I look forward to 2010.

I did indeed have a great time; I would have posted a lot more about it but frankly I was in a half-exhausted state much of the time. Eh, I'll give you my take on events later. At the moment I need to pack and tidy things up a bit, although happily neither will take very long. Checkout is in about three hours, and my flight takes off two hours after that. Well, this will likely be the last post I make before I leave San Diego. It's been a real blast, and I already miss a city I haven't even left, yet! I really "conned out" earlier. I was about to get ready to hit the bed (didn't turn off the computer), and I simply just lied on the bed briefly. I missed the breakfast yesterday because I slept through it. I check out in about an hour, and am taking a shuttle to the airport after I do. *sigh* I really hate to go.

Oh, I forgot to mention last night while getting on the trolley, a creepy old dude started hitting on me. Oh...kay.... So I went out of my way to find some other women and sat with them. Thankfully he left me alone after that. Ah, such is the experience of a big city late at night. 8D

Here I am, back home in Seattle, safe and sound. :) I'm not happy to be back though. Not only do I return to work on Wednesday, but we're currently under a heat advisory and a stagnant air advisory. I could clearly see a brown halo over the city as my plane was descending from the heavens. Blech. And it's 8:30 right now and.. *checks temp* ..it's 91 out. Oh, and did I mention few residences in this area have air conditioning? ::) It's suppose to reach the 100s on Wednesday. Kill me, kill me now. It doesn't make much sense that southern Cali is 20+ degrees cooler than northern Washington.

Anyway, enough complaining. I had a blast! It was just way too awesome meeting everyone. I know I already said that, but it's soooo true! And it was a fun experience. I hope I can make it down next year too, although it's still much too early to make any definite plans.

Well, here I am... in Irving, Texas, stranded at the local Super 8 for the night. Seems that my connecting flight from Dallas could not be bothered to wait. Ah, well, the adventure continues. At present I'm guessing that I'll be home around 1:00 PM Eastern time, barring weather delays.

Nice room here; bigger than the one I had in San Diego. Also has a complementary roach. My life is so weird. 8D Anyway, I'll obviously have a lot to write about tommorrow but since my power cable is in my suitcase at the airport I won't be doing much tonight, just going over the day's posts and then out to find food. Horrible heat and humidity here but I'll manage. ;)

Lynnie
07-27-2009, 08:26 PM
Another roach? I think they like you. And they tell their friends about you. So all across the country, roaches pop out to say "Hi" whenever Cassini is around. 8D

It would be nice if I shared some more info about my actual day, huh? Well, after I logged off here, I packed my computer and went to check out. No problems there. I didn't owe a single cent. I love Travelocity! I waited for the airport shuttle in front of the hotel for only about five minutes. The driver was very pleasant, and I was the only rider during that run so he was very friendly with me. I gave him a hefty tip when he dropped me off. :) I arrived about three hours before my flight left, so I read one of the books I had brought, got droopy eyed, and ended up dozing off in the airport chair. The first flight was a 25 minute one to LA, where I had an hour lay over before continuing to Seattle. The short flight was in probably the smallest plane I've ever flown in, it was fun! The flight from LA to Seattle wasn't as long as the flight down on Saturday, we must have had a tail wind. The plane was packed to the max though, so it wasn't the most comfortable flight. A lot of kids were on board too, including a few young ones who liked throwing fits. And they did two or three times while in the air. :P There was also an entire Japanese family flying, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. Big group. One of the ladies sitting right behind me didn't speak English, and was actually using her cell phone during much of the flight. The attendants had to tell her two or three times to please turn it off. There was another young family from somewhere in Africa and it appeared they were in traditional garb, they were beautiful! Other than the cramped quarters and the kids screaming now and then, it wasn't a bad flight. We arrived about 10 minutes early (yeah, we had to have had a tail wind), and I called my dad to tell him I had arrived so he could meet me at the baggage claim without having to park. And... yeah, that was pretty much it. ;)

I'm back home, running the air conditioner on high. The final part of the return trip was without incident; I even got a primo seat, just behind the first class section. The unplanned stay at the Super 8 in Irving was pleasant enough, albeit not under the best of circumstances. The storms that delayed everything fired up again shortly after I checked in and continued for another hour; heavy downpours, thunder and lightning, you know the type. After I checked in here I sent out for a large pizza, ate the whole thing (first food I'd had in about 18 hours), and went to bed. Not a bad hotel, not bad at all. :)

I'm back in my home state. Boo. lol The travel went well. I did have a big scare before going to sleep last night into this morning. I noticed that my camcorder was not with me. I asked Rid if he saw me with it, and he said he didn't recall me bringing it back from San Diego. I know for a fact that I brought it with me on the train northbound to Anaheim. I ended up going to the Anaheim Amtrak/Metrolink Station and explained what happened and the description of the lost item. The woman called to find out if anything was returned, and she told me that the cam was returned at the Union Station in LA. So, the people at Amtrak had the item sent back to Anaheim on a southbound train from LA, and I had them leave me a message and contact Rid about it, since he's the only one that could get the cam. He's going to ship it tomorrow. Huge sigh of relief. And hooray, good, honest people out there still exist!!

The $100 deal is truth (it was the onsite price and will be the price, once they start selling them online (which I heard they're going to start doing within a few weeks). I still went for it, but yeah, it did go up. Not sure if it has to do with them trying to prevent it from selling out quickly or if some of the funds are going to go to possibly contribute to expansion of the San Diego Convention Center (which does need to happen). I know $100 is a lot of money, though.

Lynnie

I'm surprised the price didn't go up last year. I don't think that's too bad a jump, especially after keeping it the same price two years in a row. Not to say it's not a lot of money, because it is. But it's worth it, isn't it? :)

And now, for my 2,000th post, here's the sketches I got. :)

They were planning to expand it by 65,000 square feet according to one guy I talked to. They could definitely use the extra room.

Oh, that's fabulous, Lynnie - you must be pretty chuffed with those! I think Mac looks particularly adorable there. :)

I've also heard that they would nearly double in size, pushing the size to over 1 million sf. We'll see. I can't imagine the con going to another city (won't happen next year, but it might someday).

Yes, he is!

We got in yesterday, and the bird came home today. My feet are really screwed up, one foot has a bunion now and the other is infected. So um, yay. -_- We're likely not going to Con next year for financial reasons, so at least I won't have to go through that again.

I have not yet found my digital camera cable but when I do, I will post photos.

I'm really sorry to hear about both feet. If you really need to take at least a year off, then I'm totally okay with that. I do would like to see you once at some point next year, maybe outside of the summer.

Ow! I hope your feet will be ok, Sparky. That sounds horrible. Sorry to hear you won't likely be making it down next year, too. I hope things will turn around for the better real soon.

I for one had completely forgotten my phone's charging cord. I was worried my phone's battery would run out so I ended up not using it as much as I had originally planned. When getting into my dad's car when he picked me up, there it was in the back seat. Not sure how it had gotten there, it must have fallen out of my bag on the trip to the airport Saturday morning. I hope you're able to find your camera's cord. :macwor:

I had kind of a scare along those lines; I couldn't remember if I packed my house keys. They turned out to be in my suitcase, fortunately, but I spent several long hours wondering if I was going to have to break into my own apartment. :P

My sympathies on your feet, Sparky. I really hope you find a solution for that; I know it's been a llong, painful problem. We'll miss you in 2010, too, but you already know that. Just take care of yourself, that's all we ask.

Ow geez, sorry to hear about your infection there Sparky.

All I can really say is, Get well soon.

Wow, the 09 con just ended and people are making plans for 2010 already. Talk about dedication to having fun. :D

I too is currently in the early stages of planning another journey to next years event.

And by early stages I mean I am going to start to save my money little by little and then see what my finances are like around Christmas time before making any firm commitments, so stay tuned peeps.

And if not 2010 then maybe 2011, but one thing is certain I do want to go one more time.

It does appear that I have lost my camera bag, which contained the usb cord and I think maybe a memory card I never use. Possibly another cord I never use, the one that connects the camera to a composite input. Anyways next time I turn on my desktop computer I can use the built-in card reader to retrieve the photos but I do need to order a new usb cord from the company because it's not a common one I can buy locally. I'm going to do that in just a moment.

So anyways next week I hope to have the '09 CC page up on this site. I don't think I can get to it before then. If you have photos start going through them to see what you might want to contribute.

Just been reading up on all the posts, and it's safe to say the '09 Con was canny event-packed. Obviously it goes without saying that I wish I could've been there myself, but I'm glad to hear everyone had a great time.:D

Sorry to hear about the feet, Sparky, hopefully they'll be alright soon.

I may have two or three pictures worth sharing on the CC09 page. Sparky, should they be a certain size?

You can use these (http://www.fosters-home.com/comiccon2008/fphotos.htm) as an example of a general size.

I keep forgetting to get my photos off my camera. :P I don't think I have anything super-fantastic to share anyways.

My replacement camera cable came today so without any further excuses, here are a few more photos from the Con:

Terrence gets hungry at the Ghiaradelli place.

And finally back at our hotel, Howard cooks on Terrence's guitar.

I'm still taking photos for building the CCI09 page here on Never Forgotten, so please send some my way.

Yeah Sparky, that last photo is hilarious! I did save it - and it might be an avatar (who knows). Okay peeps! My photos of the Con are on my album. I only shot five photos (I am not much of a shutterbug), and they are the ones I thought were important - and they barily turned out. Go have a look and feel free to comment!:bloogrin:

Most of those wonderful shots Cass took - I was with him. I really love the pic of the Yuma Building. Now I have a desire to try and get into one of it's two spires, just to say I did it.

Another set of Con pics is now posted on my profile page; this set is titled "The Exhibition Hall" and was shot entirely within the Exhibition Hall. Kind of self-explanatory, I guess. Comments are welcomed, but you already know that.

Pic set #3 (of 4) is now up on my profile page. Nothing fancy, just a collection of random stuff that caught my eye. There's a lot to see in the city; I'm already looking forward to next year's trip.
