First, I'm asking Sparky or another mod to make this a sticky off the top to make sure I'm doing this right.

The third season of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends on DVD will be released on March 4th, 2008. Wikipedia has it listed for March 5th, but remember, 2008 is a leap year. I've fixed that problem.

The DVD hasn't been announced (yet). That is just a Wikipedia rumor.

I hope it's true. My birthday is the 11th so that would make for a nice present. :)

This feels a bit sudden since I'm still waiting for my season 2 dvd to be shipped (stupid delay). But I suppose it's better that these dvd's get released and avoid the risk of them being halted. But then again, this is just a rumor at this point right? No official word of the release date outside of wikipedia.

Until Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network or http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ makes a formal announcement about the release date, consider anything else on the subject to be just a rumor.

I hope it not a rumor, I'd love to see another Foster's DVD that soon! But I'm sure all of you would ;)

Hopefully with a tolerable commentary. :frankiemad:

Regardless, I buy them for the episodes and the artwork; the extras aren't too important.

I've seen this for a while. Right now, though, it's just hearsay. I'm awaiting for new from a more reliable source.

Aw man, I saw this topic title and got all excited. XD I thought it was an official announcement.

I can't wait 'til the DVD is released, though. I haven't seen a chunk of the season 3 eps... And I'm hoping for some fun commentary as well... by someone other than Cheese. (Commentary by Goo would be hilarious. XD)

Even though I own all seasons on iTunes, the DVD bonuses are a nice extra for me. I'd love for some Goo commentary, but I have to wonder... can Grey DeLisle seriously talk nonstop for 22 minutes? XD

Oooh, I am eagerly awaiting confirmation about this. I too would absolutely love another commentary, and one with Goo would be awesome. :gooblab: But didn't the crew state they weren't going to do any more commentaries because the target demographic of young kids aren't into that type of thing? Such a shame. :sadbendy:

That's correct, Lynnie. All I have to say is don't be surprised, if the next release excludes a commentary. It could change, though.

I'd like to hear that! But along with Goo, Frankie and Mac's mom can be there! Wow... Goo, Frankie and Mac's Mom... I have to ponder why Mac's mom came up in my top three for a bit...

Knowing that Ben 10's Season 2 release was a bit later than the Foster's Season 2 release, and yet...the former series gets Season 3 on DVD earlier than Foster's Season 3 really bugs me (I'm starting to wonder if Warner Home Video has decided not to release anymore of the latter series on DVD). At the rate things are going; we may have to fight for the next DVD release.

I'll sure join in the fight, too. :madwilt:

I've done so many searches trying to find any, any info on S3 on DVD. I've done searches on Time Warner, on Turner, on Cartoon Network, on CN Enterprises, and all DVD release sights I could find. Nothin'. The most "exciting" thing I found was at KidzWorld, stating S3 is due to be released on March 4, but it's very likely they got their info from Wikipedia, so I don't trust it. Besides, you think we'd have heard something by now if the release date is that close.

I learned that Warner is planning on releasing a whole bunch of Hi-Def DVDs next fall, and they don't have the list complete yet. Perhaps S3 will be included? Although I know we're all hoping for it to come out before next fall. I don't know. I hope we hear something soon.

March 4 isn't THAT far away, not quite two months, and with the Season One and Two discs, we heard official word of their release well in advance of that time frame, so I wouldn't put much stock in a March 4 release for Season 3, either. If that were the case, we'd have read about it through one of Time Warner's sources or a more reliable site like ToonZone by now.

I would like to quote my AP Lit teacher: Inciting rebellion, Cassini? (Or something to that effect...)

But seriously, I would love to see all the seasons on DVD, mostly because I'm waiting for GWH to be on DVD, and can't wait for the season 3 release. However, if it comes down to fighitng for that release and future releases, count me in.

I repeat: COUNT. ME. IN.

GWH is available on DVD, sort of. A number of promotional copies were released to the press and other people in the industry; a few have turned up on eBay from time to time. That's where I got my copy. :D

These were copies that were given to the people who screened the movie(yes, they had regular movie screenings for it just like any upcoming Hollywood release), and some of them put their copies up for sale on Ebay even before the movie was shown on tv for the first time.

What *I* would love would be a "special edition" DVD of GWH, with extra footage or scenes that didn't make the final cut due to the time constraint(or perhaps worries that they would be too intense), plus extras, like say, an hour-long interview of the main man by either Barbara Walters or Oprah, as well as commentaries on him and that adventure by some of the other characters, including Jordan. Seriously, GWH is worthy of its own DVD, given its popularity.

Well heck pbl, all the "movies" of like Fairly Oddparents and Billy and Mandy etc have gone to DVD. I have to wonder why HOB (on its own I mean) and GWH haven't. Apparently CN intends to only release the specials in the season sets. I think they should have been released separately. But perhaps they didn't think that would have made enough money. Or they think having the specials on them is the only way they'll sell lots of the season sets. But what do you expect? After all, CN seems to think skinny teen girls are the only ones who want to buy Foster's t-shirts. ;) And that Cheese is the star of the show.

If Good Wilt Hunting has to be sold in a Season set, it should come in it's own DVD, with everything on it, if not sold alongside the season set like some things do. =P

I just saw this thread active again and got excited that there might be some news. Bummer. :sadbendy:

I'm keeping my eye out for any news about CN's annual "Upfront" conference, in which we may hear not only about the future release of S3 DVD, but the show in general. It should be coming up sometime in the next month or so. I'm hoping there'll be some good news. As I'm sure, we all are.

Indeed. There are times when I want to tell the network and/or merchandisers, "Hell-oooo, I don't fit into a large but I'd like to buy a Foster's shirt! I'm willing to give you money in exchange for a shirt-- you should be jumping on this opportunity!" (Ah, but I go on!)

I agree-- if GWH has to be released with a season set, at least give it its own DVD with some good bonus features.

You and me both. You had me at interveiws and commentaries-- I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the events of the episode in retrospect.

I hope someone from the "putting-the-show-on-DVD" department is paying attention to all this-- we're giving them some pretty good ideas...

I did, too. It looks more and more likely that we may have to fight for the next DVD. :macwor: I'm predicting a late spring or early summer release for Season 3 at the earliest.

I don't understand why the dvd release of future seasons is so iffy. The show is so popular that you would think the dvds would just fly off the shelves. I just hope that CN doesn't consider Foster's yesterdays news and set it aside to capitalize on the popularity of newer shows.
Transformers Animated has proven to be a runaway hit and the upcoming Spider-man toon is bound for similar success. I just hope it's not at Foster's expense...

That, unfortunately, is more than likely; they've done it before with other shows, they'll probably do it with Foster's, too. Hopefully the show will have already run it's course by then and it won't matter as much. And, hopefully, it won't happen for a few more years. :frankiemad:

Which is why I burn my own. Most of the more recent episodes are missing the end credit sequences and are riddled with those aggravating splash ads (thanks a lot for both, CN) but it's better than nothing.

Great; now Ben 10 is getting another DVD release in May (just two months after the March release of Season 3). Warner Bros. doesn't seem to care about FHFIF anymore.

Edit: I've decided to send Warner Bros. a message asking about any future releases of the series. I seriously do not expect a response, but eh...you never know.

Imaginary Light
01-30-2008, 01:40 PM
What a darn right shame. Perhaps if all of us wrote to Warner Bros. inquiring about further FHFIF DVDs, they'd discover that they are quite popular and release more? But the more logical part of my brain is telling me that is merely wishful thinking :jk:

I'm NOT surprised. I sometimes wonder if it's even a human being reading the email/comments fans write over the spiderweb. I've gotten so many "canned" and pointless responses like "Thanks for your interest in Shmoo! At this time we do not have more information regarding your question, please keep checking back at www.shmoo.com for the latest news" that I gave up writing these requests.

I hate trailers that tell you *nothing* except that the item exists, lol. :jk: Like I said on another forum about a trailer for a film's sequel that showed/told absolutely nothing, basically they're saying their interns have some of it done but not enough artwork or consecutive seconds of film to actually put it in the trailer. ;)

Yes, it's nice to know that it's still going to come out... somebody said Season 4 DVD was supposed to be released in September... I'm wondering if perhaps maybe CN decided not to release the Season 3 DVD until September to give us a few more extras.

Sparky: Normally I'd agree with you, but give that there was substantial doubt on this occasion that the item did exist, I'm actually rather delighted! :D

Great to see that they are continuing with the season boxsets, I was starting to fear they'd lost patience. I'm looking forward to Season Three, for sure; granted, the first half of it was patchy, but it'll be great to have Crime After Crime and Room With A Feud on DVD. Seriously, season boxsets should become a legal requirement for all TV shows; I'm still waiting for Powerpuff Girls Season Two and Transformers Animated Season One, CN! :frankiemad:

Shelltoon

TF Animated just started Ditchy, it's going to be a while before TF Animated is out on DVD, but I'm sure it will be out... probably a month or two after the toys are released.

Shelltoon: Ha, yeah, I know; I'm not saying that I'm expecting the DVDs any time soon, but I would like to know they're coming. My complaint has more to do with when they decide to rip you off by releasing piecemeal DVD sets that only have three or four episodes on them, often selected seemingly at random, or based on some tenuous theme. ::) Foster's never went down that path, thank goodness, but Powerpuff did at first, and I guess I'm just worried for Transformers because they've announced that they're releasing the first three-part episode as a stand-alone release. I know it was the TV movie pilot, but still, I would have preferred it just to be part of a season boxset, like "House of Bloo's" was...

PS - (Oh, and on a separate note, I can't wait for those toys, either. :bloocross: I've been buying a few pre-release samples on eBay, but that's not cutting it any more; I want these babies on shop shelves so I can go in there and take my pick. Damnit, Hasbro, I want my Animated Blitzwing now!) :bendy:

Well, the Goo Music Video, "M.C. Goo" is a given, along with Gallery of Friends, previews and promos. (Just like season 2, "Cheese Quest" music video, Gallery of Friends, promos, previews, and like season 1, but season 1 had a behind-the-scenes, not a music video.)
I probably won't have a slipcase, either.

I'd set phases on second Tuesday of September.
I think they may decide to go for one set per year in September, or they just skipped the early year release to stretch it out so they don't run out of seasons to release.
I don't think season 4 will be in September, but I'd love if it was.

They did the same thing by delaying a release of SpongeBob SquarePants season box sets. I can't wait 'till those pick up in September, also. And I also want The Fairly OddParents! & Chowder to have season sets, too!

So we have everything about it confirmed about it except the artwork and release date. I bet you all one copy of it that it'll have Goo on it. :P
Just kidding!
(But it will!)

I would love to see season 6 come out before the episodes even finish airing! That'd be cool.
